I'm a long-time lurker, recent MIA-poster, but wanted to update and say that I'm six days post-op and doing amazingly well. I truly cannot believe what a difference this surgery has made in the most basic things---I'm "hungry" this morning for the first time since I had surgery...amazing. My focus on food has totally changed and I am able to evaluate my past behaviors from a more objective place now. I expected to be in a lot of pain--lap rny--but I can honestly say that the pain was minimal (I'd had three c-sections and if you've ever had one, I compare post-op pain to day two or three of a c-section). I had more trouble with back pain than surgery pain. I spiked a fever on Monday, but other than that, recovery has been uneventful. I've rested a great deal and am slowly working on getting my fluid levels up to par (waaay low in the beginning. I'm a terrible patient) and introducing protein more and more. If you are in that "will this ever happen" phase, YES IT WILL! and then you will literally be a new person and on your way, so don't give up. Oh, the stats part---presurgery and prep diet weight 9/23--301 by my scales; day before surgery wt.--290 at home, 287 at hospital--today 279.

Yeah Kim! It sounds like you are doing wonderfully. I'm glad to hear someone compare the pain to less than a c/section because I've had four of those and they weren't so bad. Janie
