Any TN bandsters out there?
No, my husband hasn't had his surgery yet. Johnie is submitting his paperwork today and hopefully it will be approved as quickly as mine was. My own BMI is on the low side. It was 39 at my consultation. I knew that my insurance wouldn't cover the lap band so I didn't even ask about it and he said that he was glad that I had made that choice and that it was "the gold standard".
600 for a refill? Is that a lot? It seems like a lot but I've never priced it. I just always assumed it would be in the $100 range or so to make it affordable.
Oh and Dr. Boyce took my gall bladder out last year so I can attest to the fact that he can successfully do this procedure

Janie,
I just read your profile. What kind of insurance do you have? It sounds great!
I agree that 600 is alot for a fill. I have heard from other people that is cheaper in chattanoga and in maryville. I personally haven't talked to any of the office people so I'm not for sure how much cheaper it is. Did you have any complications from having your gallbladder removed? My hubby had his taken out in March and still has some problems (Dr. Boyce did not do his surgery). I go for an ultrasound Friday. I am hurting pretty bad, I may end up going to the ER before then. I am a wuss!
I think it's great that you and your hubby are getting healthy together. Your kids are adorable!

We have John Deere Select employee plan(they were just bought out by United Health Care). My husband works at Brushy Mountain and it is through his work. They only complication that I have from having my gall bladder removed is that I dump if I eat fats or sugars. I get almost immediate diarrhea from cakes and fried foods. I don't have the sweats and the vomiting that comes with classic dumping but the diarrhea is bad enough. Dr. Wilhoit (my gi) prescribed me Welchol and it keeps the diarrhea under control pretty much.
I ended up going to the ER with my gall bladder. I had been putting it off because I was nursing and didn't want to have another test (it comes out in the milk) but I pretty much got to the point where I thought I was dying and I went to the ER. They did an ultrasound and I had so many stones that my gall bladder had burst on one side. They wouldn't let me go home and admitted me with an iv of demerol and phenergan for the pain. The next morning I met Dr. Boyce for the first time (he was the surgeon on call). He was great and even with the diarrhea it is soooo much better than the pain. I would rather experience labor than that pain. ugh it was awful.
Thanks for the compliments on my kiddos.
