I do.... I had a great experience. As long as you have everything they require, you'll have no problem. It also depends on your employer too... each employer is different. Good luck! April

I have BCBS of TN through my employer, the state of Tennessee. I can't get a straight ansewr from anyone I talk with there as to what I need to do, what criteria must be met or anything else. Very frustrating to say the least. I would be interested to know what your experience has been.

It just occurred to me that you are likely referring to gastric bypass surgery....my earlier reply was regarding plastic surgery. For my gastric bypass surgery approval...it was a breeze. Got an answer within a week (I had called to make certain they got all the paperwork and found it had been approved the day before). It's very important to have six months of physician supervised weight loss attempts (consecutive months). Have your doctor be sure to document you talked about calories, portion size and exercise. Other than that, I was over 100 pounds over weight and had two co-morbidities. My surgery was March 28, 2005 and to date, I have lost 204 pounds. I am now looking to have plastic surgery. Good luck with getting your surgery approved!

I have been denied 3x now. The appeal was denied on Friday but I have the documentation for BC showing that I have lost the required 10% overall body weight. This should be the last thing holding up the case, and I am hoping to hear an answer tomorrow or later in the week. Good luck!
