Pills
I never had to crush any of my pills. When they took me off of the pain pump in the hospital, they started bringing me pills. I figured if I could swallow a pill in the hospital I could swallow them at home.
I did use a chewable multi-vitamin and chewable calcium for the first couple of months. I switched to regular multi & calcium at about 10 weeks when I got my braces put on and could no longer chew the others.
Hi Terry, I never crushed mine either. I was being given my medications while I was still in the hospital. They would give me my bottle of chemo pills, they tried to crush my 3 trazadones, but I couldn't swallow them as it was like paste. So since I was able to swallow my chemo pills, I got all my pills just as they came in the bottle or package. When you are about 3 months out, have them put you on pre-natal vitamins. It's more complete with the essentials that we need then other vitamins. My nails keep growing from the vitamins, I just wish my hair would. It has really gotten bad here lately. Just about bald. May have to switch to a wig soon. You should be able to start swallowing your pills now. Love ya, Kathy
Hi Kathy,
I tried my pepcid last night and this morning. I cut it in half and it seemed to be OK. I also just took my atenelol whole because it is tiny. My Prozac is capsule form so I haven't tried to take it whole. I have just been emptying it out of the capsule. I take requip for restless leg syndrome so I cut it in half and it worked well last night. I'll ask if I can try the prenatal vitamins when I see Dr. Melvin in Oct. I'm not far enough out to notice any hair loss yet and I hope it will be minimal because I wear my hair really short...............Hugs, Terry
