Where's my drum roll?

This has been a long week. On August 9th I went for my 7th month weigh-in (I was out of town for my 6th month) and weighed in at 188. I had been down to 180 but was swelled with fluids. Yesterday I weighed in at 178. Now mind you when I had my surgery in January I was 277.5. Being on medication for an underactive thyroid that causes weight gain, chemo pills that causes fluid retention bad, and an anti-depressant that causes weight gain, I new I was in for a long hard road. I am just thankful for what I have lost. I ONLY NEEDED TO LOSE 1/2 A POUND FOR MY 100 POUND LOST. THIS MORNING I WAS DOWN TO 177. LOVE THOSE SCALES. Yepee: I actually did it. I can't believe it. Now I may not get to my goal of 130, but I will get as close as I can. Plus having the skin reduction will take off extra fat. It's life great after losing those unwanted pounds? I find new things each day that I can now do that I couldn't before being over weight, and in a wheelchair. Ijust wish I could celebrate but still looking at too many boxes to unpack. For now, I am going to go rest and finish watching a movie. Then finish putting away all my pans, fold a load of clothes, and dry a load. My online sailer man who's on his sail boat in the Carribean, says to rest today, as he will be online late tonight to chat. That way I won't fall asleep when he comes on. I look forward to his emails. Never met him, but hey, emails helps us to get to know someone. He writes me more then I can, as I have things to do, he is just lazing around in the coastal waters. Wish I could join him, but maybe another time. Y'all have a wonderful day. Catch you later, May the Lord shine upon you. Kathy

Hi Donna, you did it faster then me, but that's okay, everyone is different. I just don't drink as much water as I should or would have lost it faster. But being on Chemo pills, a body can just take so much. I'm proud of you. I just found out that since we didn't have a 30 or a 35 yr class reunion at my high school in Michigan, they are planning it for Aug. 07. I have never gone because of the weight problem, in high school I was only 102. I will be 19 months out when they have it, and hopefully most of the major excess skin gone too. I want to be the sexiest one there. They ignored me and I wasn't in the in crowd back then. But I plan on making them take notice when I do go. Women better hold onto their husbands (not into wrecking homes) rather their male friends for those who aren't married. I'm single and looking. LOL, keep up the great work, love Kathy

Donna & Kathy, you are such an inspiration to me!!! Congrats on the 100 pound mark!!! This is amazing. Although I don't have 100 ponds to lose I sure hope I can get to goal which is 138. I now weigh 187. Down from 222. Five weeks out. Keep up the good work...............Hugs, Terry

Hi Terry, I am surprised they even did surgery when you are less then 100 lbs over weight. A lot of insurance companies wouldn't even do it unless it was lapband. I'm still proud of you and thank you. We're here to help you. Just had potassium given to me, and a little tired. For some reason it always makes me queasy when it's being done. So over a 4 hour period, after they give me a shot, I sleep while it's going into my IV. You keep up the good work. Love ya, Kathy

Kathy, hope you are feeling better. As for the surgery it was actually for the co-morbities. I have a list as long as my leg. My BMI was 36.9 pre-op. It is now 30.2. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I have CIGNA with the State of Tennessee and I was approved after the 1st appeal letter.......................Hugs, Terry

That's great. My BMI was around 53 prior to surgery, I don't know right off what it is. You won't have a lot of excess skin to get rid of. I set a goal for 130, but right now I'm at 177. I know I will continue losing weight for another year, so if I don't make it to 130 and stop at 150 or 120 just losing that 100 lbs is fantastic to me. What ever I lose after this will be considered a bonus. Best wishes to you, love Kathy

Thank you Kim, your day will come too. Remember the more water you drink and workout the faster it comes off for good. Also make sure you get in plenty of Protein. Not enough will cause your hair to start falling out between months 3-6. I have leukemia and on chemo pills, so my hair that was once so thick a year ago that it took and hour to blow dry and so thick that I couldn't put it into a pony tail, is now so thin and falling out that it takes 1-2 minutes to dry into a frizz and won't stay in a pony tail as it's too thin. The more protein I get in me the more the leukemia seems to like it better in my urine. This tool is so easy for the most part, but for me, I am fighting a rare form of cancer of the blood and bone marrow. My pills causes me to gain weight by retaining fluids. I really had such beautiful hair, now I can't do anything with it but put on my ball cap to keep the sun from burning my scalp. I can't get it shaped because it falls out by the hand fulls everytime I brush by hair. So remember plenty of water, excercise, and get in plenty of protein in and use the tool. It really does work. I wish you the best. Love kathy
