Calling any thyroid patients
Hi Marilyn,
I'm 7 months out from rny and, like you, have no thyroid. I take .250 mcg daily. I can't tell that there has been any difference in my weight loss. Certainly, the lack of a thyroid never posed a problem to anyone. I never missed my medication.
I *am* getting retested since I've lost 172 lbs. since I was last seen. (50 of it was pre-op, 112 post op) You shouldn't have any problems losing weight because of thyroid concerns.
There's a lot more to be considered than thyroid when deciding on whether to have surgery or not. Keep searching and asking questions until you feel easy about your decision. I can only speak for myself and say that this has given my life back to me and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Good luck,
Mary
Hi Mary, I often wondered what happened to you and how you were doing. Losing 172 lbs in 7 months wow. That's great. I just got my 7th month weigh-in and I've lost 95 lbs. Remember I had mine the day before you. Dr. Colquitt says he doesn't need to see me again until January as I've lost 68% of my weight. He was quite pleased with this. Congradulations goes to you for a tremendous job. Always, Kathy
Hi Kathy,
I look in from time to time. I've been busy remodeling my kitchen. Life's good but hectic at times. There's nothing like weight loss to speed life up.
Glad to know you are doing okay. Colquitt also told me to come back in January. Everything is going well with the exception of some anemia which I had off and on before the surgery.
I didn't lose that much weight in 7 months. I lost 50 of it before surgery and the rest afterwards but it looks good. My averages to about 66% so we're in sync.
Good hearing from you and take care,
Mary
