Hello (First post)

I just wanted to say hello to everyone!! I will be attending a seminar Thursday the 20th with Dr. Colquitt. Can anyone tell me anything about him?? What you liked most or least?? How long before you got a date after attending his seminar? I would like to have a date before the end of the year. I am currently taking Plavix until October so will not be able to schedule a surgery until after that. I have read almost everyones profile and yall are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope to talk to all of you lots and lots in the months to come!!

WELCOME Michelle!!! I hope you find this a helpful site. I know we will do all we can to help you if you need us. I don't know anything about Dr. Colquitt, but if Kathy Newton hurries & gets back, she can tell you most anything. He was her Dr. & she is alway's very helpful. I think we may be neighbors as I live in Maynardville. I wish you the best of luck. Sara.

Hey Terry! Thank you for the welcome. I hope you are feeling good now that you are a few more days out.....I have been reading this board for a couple months and last night at the seminar I attended the doctor reccommended this site to everyone because there is so much knowledge here!

Hi Michelle, I had Dr. Colquitt and so glad I did. There's not too many surgeons who would do this surgery when the patient has leukemia and on chemo pills nightly. He is a wonderful surgeon. I saw him in September, my oncologist faxed her referral as my blood counts were in normal range after just one month of being on the chemo. That was in October. I asked regarding my date. I could pick any that I wanted, but I chose Jan. 9, I didn't want to be a drag over the holidays, and by my picking the first available date in January, I can't break the resolution to lose weight. I have lost a total so far of 98 lbs in 6 months. Dr. Colquitt is a quiet man, but direct and to the point. If you are over the 50 miles away from his office, you will need to stay in a motel there until the drain tube comes out at your first office visit. I will be back in TN on July 26, and hopefully be able to get moved into my new apartment in Morristown by the first of August. I will be back online Friday morning, so if you have any questions, just put my name in the subject line, I think I'm the only Kathy on here, so when I see it, I know I have mail. Hey Kathy thank you so much for your reply! I was able to attend a seminar last night with Dr. Colquitt. I really enjoyed it! He did seem to push the lap band a lot more than the RNY. I just dont know about getting all the "fills" (adjustments) Those are 300.00 each time you have to get one! I go see my PCP on Monday and will be discussing with him so I will see if he can help me with my decision. I must have misunderstood his website.(foothillsweightloss.com) I thought they did the DS as well but he said last night there is not a doctor in TN that does that surgery. Now its a matter of getting my paperwork together! I am pumped about doing this....I am tired of taking so many meds!! I want a normal life
