Need Advice

Just got off the phone with my surgeons office. I was trying to find out if they had received their copy of my approval letter since I received mine a week ago. Since I have not heard from them I thought I would be proactive and call them to try and set up my pre-op work. Well to begin with the girl that answered the phone would not even take my name and then to make matters worse I was told "Don't call us, we'll call you" I'm so fed up I don't know what to do. Can anyone give me some advice? I'm about ready to change doctors.

I was very proactive and called my insurance company every day almost. When I recieved a confirmation I called my WL clinic and told the young lady who answered the phone that I had been re approved and she just called to confirm it with them and this just got the ball rolling quicker.

Thanks Jo however my issue is not with my insurance company its with my current surgeon. Like you I am thinking seriously about changing surgeons. I will keep everyone updated as things change.

FYI - If you change surgeons, you will have to start from scratch and get a new insurance approval. If your surgeon is a good one, don't leave just because his office staff sucks. But be sure to let him know about their rudeness, he may not see how they treat patients. Congrats, I'm sure you'll be able to work something out and have a date soon.

Personally, if it were me and there were another surgeon in the area under my insurance, I would change surgeons. If they cannot even be polite and work for you before they've even made money off of you -- how will they behave once they have gotten your/your insurance's money? I have heard far too many horror stories of people having complications post-op and not getting them resolved because of their surgeon's staff or even their surgeons being like this -- remember, you are PAYING THEM to work for you. Even if it is through your insurance, they get paid to help you. You do NOT have to put up with that kind of behavior. You need to do what YOU need to do, but it never hurts to shop around -- especially since you are already approved. --joanna 325/136/140

Thanks Joanna, there is another surgeon in the area that is on my insurance. I think I'm going to make a phone call to the insurance company today and see what I would need to do to change doctors. I'm so tired of rude people.
