Have my date and one last "event" before the big day.

I just wanted to tell everyone that I now have my medical clearance letter from my PCP and the only thing left is the pre-op workup and the anithesiologist (sp). That is scheduled for July 17 and then the big day is July 24th. I am VERY ready for this. My PCP was AMAZED that I take no regular medications and don't have high cholesterol. He's a good guy I guess he was just a little surprised that I was healthy but obese. Anywho - just wanted to share.

Hi Mara, who's doing your surgery? Your surgery date is on a Sunday, my dad will turn 77 that day. I have to be back in TN on the 25 as I see my surgeon on the 26th for my six month weigh-in and measurements. I wish you much success and a speedy recovery. Having no co-morbilities is fantastic. Hi Kathy, My surgeon is Dr. Kappa in Kingsport, TN. He's great too. Actually my surgery is on Monday July 24th and my actualy birthday is July 26th. What a GREAT birthday present. Thanks for the prayers and I hope your six month wiegh and measure is everything you hope for. Mara

Mara- I'm from the JOCY area but live in WNC now. I'm researching my options around the area. You are having your surgery at Indian Path? Is it a bariatric program? What is your experience/knowledge with what is avaliable there and in JC? I appreciate any help you can offer.

Kala, Did I ever reply to you? I thought I had but I didn't see it on the board anywhere and didn't know if I had sent you and email. I am having my surgery at Holston Valley by Dr. Kappa. They do have a bariatric program which really helped because they made you go through the battery of stuff that you most insurance companies require. I've heard good things about most of the surgeons and staff of all of the Tri-cities hospitals and programs. If you are interested you can contact the Holston Valley Medical Center and ask to speak to the Bariatric coordinator. Best of luck, Mara
