Antibiotic Help

Okie dokie, I went to the surgeon's office about my pain. After a lot of tests...thank God it's not my gallbladder it's a bad kidney infection. However, the surgeon gave me Leviquin...a huge antibiotic i must crush. I asked him about a liquid and he said, just cru**** Ok, I can't get it down. It is unbelievable. Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of calling with a suggestion of a liquid but I don't have any ideas..do you? Thanks Rachael

You can't cru**** Or you can't stand the taste of the crushed pill? Either way you must find a way to get it down. The liquid may taste worse than the curshed pill. I had liquid demerol for pain after sugery. I took it only once because it tasted so horrible. I take actigal in a capsule form... i just bust open the capsule on my tongue and take it with a swig of water. Some things you just gotta do no matter how much you don't like it. Good luck!

I've had leviquin post op and was able to take it whole. Is it the taste of the crushed pill that you can't take or can you physically not swallow it? It is an antibiotic that is very well absorbed by wls patients so it really is the best for you.

I can't swallow it..I have to cru**** but it tastes awful. I finally got it down last night. I cut it into four pieces and then crushed one piece at a time and mixed it with oj and downed it real fast. I am glad I got it down because the demoral did NOTHING for the pain, but by the morning, I was starting to feel better. Yeah leviquin Rachael
