ANY ONE OUT THERE WHO HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM: I had my surguery two years ago and have moved to a new state in the process. Since my move I have lost my brother in law and now my sister is not talking to me, and my car has been vandalized. All this stress I have resorted back to my old habits and have gained over five pounds. I need help and if anyone knows of a support group in the Nashville/Madison TN area please let me know.

Hi Bettye, try Centennial or Vandy hospitals. They should have support groups or know of where some are. I used to live in Madison so I know Nashville is only about 10 minutes away vs having to drive over an hour. I may move back in that area. Stress can really play a major role in our habits, you know what you need to do and that's get back on the program, you can control the weight, don't let it control you. Sorry can't help you anymore then that, I'm only been out almost 5 months. I am at a plateau, I had lost 77.5 lbs, but my chemo has now caused me to gain 3 lbs back. I doing the water thing today, water and watermelon, to rid me of the fluid retention. I hope you find some help over there. Always Here, Kathy

I am back on the water thing and in the process of finding a place that I can purchase my protien drinks. I miss CA and Tradder Joe's for that was where I could get my drinks and powder and my folic acid/b-6 vitamins. I am sure there are other ones here but you know when you are use to one place it is rather hard to find somthing new. Thanks for taking the time to respond to me. GOOD LUCK

There are several support groups that you can attend. Centenniel has the best ones. They have some that meet on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, one of them is at noon I think. Then you can contact Dr. Eveylyn Frye who is a psychologist who specializes in weight loss or I guess I should say eating disorders, but anyway she is excellent. She leads out in some of the support groups. Hang in there, I too need to get back to my support groups - Know that you are not alone.

I don't know about Centennial having the best ones in the area. I had my surgery at Baptist and I happen to prefer my support group. We meet the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 in the waiting room of The Metabolic Surgery Center at Baptist Hospital. It is located in Plaza I right across Church Street from Baptist Hospital. Baptist Hospital is located at Church and 20th Avenue downtown.

Susan, Your meetings are they for the WLS group meetings? If so please let me know. Your friend, Tina

Yes, they are the WLS group meetings. I think every bariatric surgery group here in Nashville has group meetings for their patients and interested others. Some are restricted to patients of that particular practice while others are open to anyone who has had or is interested in having WLS.

If a person has surgery at Baptist, are they able to attend support groups at Centennial? Is there a cost?
