Hey Shannon! I havent gotten surgery either, I plan to. I won't give up until I get my way =]. I've been overweight all my life and now am that dreaded weird word "OBESE" ..but like you said "I am still like everyone else." I feel ya, seems like people are hypocrites towards people with weight problems like since we are fat or something that we have a disease in which we arent normal. Sometimes I wonder, well welcome to the boards and good luck! I think I have you added on my friends list already but I'm trying to figure out how to post on my profile page..ttyl, C'YA. -maggie

Topic: CENTURY CLUB!!!
Oh yea baby!! I hit the century club a few days ago!!! I've lost 101lbs since surgery back in september!! Only 16 more pounds to my docs goal and 26-36 to my own goal!! WOOHOO!! IM SO FREAKIN HAPPY!! I've LOST MORE than what one of my co-workers weigh!!  I hope if you are a teen looking into the surger you seriously do. Before surgery I was very sheltered, I sheltered myself I never wanted to go out and socialize with people, I didn't even want to meet my boyfriend *of 5 yrs* s parents or family. I still havnt meet most of his family *cuzins and aunts, etc* I was do embarassed to go out period... I couldnt shop in normal stores, my mall shopping time was in front of a computer.  I wouldn't go swimming until it was dark out, that way no one could really see me . I was just a really sad person.. I've completely changed since then, outgoing, happy, confident. total 360. So I hope if you are teen looking into Gastric Bypass wheather it is RNY or Lapband, i encourage you 100% it's changed my life and I know it can change others!!  THIS SURGERY ROCKS!

Hey Maggie, I have been a member on this site for a few years now too. I just got back into things the past few months. I tried to have WLS when I was 16 but insurnace would never approve it. So, now I am 18 and back on the journey again. I went to my WLS seminar on April 19th. I start my classes on May 15th. I am really excited!! Just to let you know I am 5'7 and 330lbs. O yea that sucks..lol.. O well, I hope you are having a good day and hope to talk to you again soon!

Topic: I'm BACK!...again?
Hi everyone! Some may remember me, or some may not! I have been a member of obesityhelp.com for a couple years now..but lacked at coming back and keeping up. I havent gotten surgery yet, but am attending another weight loss surgery seminar on May 10th. I'm realy going to push to get the lap-band this time. I'm worried because our insurance says to be approved I have to be a fulltime student. I am not in high school, I dropped out and am now in GED..I dont know if they consider that school or not. I am turning 18 this month on May 23rd. .so I'm hoping that since I wont be a minor anymore that maybe my chances of getting surgery will be better. I hope everyone is doing well, if anyone would like to chat or anything let me know and we can keep in touch. BTW, I am 5'3 and around 300 some pounds *yikes*  I have a yahoo messenger id its "whiskygurlNE" so if anyone has that, go ahead and add me so we can talk it up! =] As for now I realy dont know what to say. So I will wrap this up now. CYA! -maggie

Topic: RE: What Song Relates To Your WL Journey?
I dont really have one song that has inspired me. I listen to gospel and christian music, so anything I hear lifts up God and gives Him the praise. I think it may get me motivation to have the surgery because I know I can better serve God. I get all the encouragement I need from my friends and family. I get my peaceful feelings from God.  Have a great day!

Hey Jennifer, My name is Cortney and im about to turn 18 in a month. i had my lap band operation just over a year ago. ive lost 100 lbs and thats with the band being unfilled for 4 months(i was sick). I had 2 knee surgeries also. I started out at 300 lbs and i hated my life then, since then everything has changed. I am much more confident and going about school is much easier(i can fit in the desks). Humm im about to participate in a marathon sunday to raise money for Crohns Disease, i cant believe im actully gonna do this. You should defidently get the surgery it will change your life forever. Getting this operation was serisously the best choice i ever made. If you wanna chat or anything my sn is [email protected] or email. pe@ce out cortney
