Topic: Finally got an appointment
I have finally got an appointment to meet with Dr. Cook. I have been playing phone tag with them and trying to plan it around school. But that didn't happen since Dr. Cook, only sees new patients in the morning. So, I only have 2 classes on Friday so I will be going on September 7th at 8:30. I am so glad I finally got an appointment.  I am hoping everything will get rolling now! I am excited! Just thought I would let everyone know! Keep me in your prayers!

You've got to keep experimenting with solid/soft proteins. If you're having trouble eating/keeping your food down then you need to have this conversation with your surgeon. Best of luck.

Topic: How can I get myself to start eating again?
I had the gastric sleeve surgery about a month ago, and I've lost over 40 pounds (I was 252, now I'm 208).  I know it must sound odd, but I have no appetite whatsoever, and I can't get myself to eat anything! Every type of food looks disgusting in my eyes, and it just makes me want to throw up. So now, I'm basically starving myself. Pretty ironic, isn't it? My parents are getting worried, and so am I. I get dizzy and tired every time I walk, I hardly do anything, and I run out of breath after just walking one block. All that goes into my body now is just juices and water. It's like I'm an anorexic girl trapped in a fat girl's body. I need to start getting protein in me. The problem is, I don't know how. I've tried protein bullets (they make me want to throw up, and I actually kind of did once when I took a sip of one),  protein shakes make me naseous,  food I can only take in very small portions  (like two or three small bites an hour).  I don't want to starve myself to death! Does anybody know a way I can eat some form of protein, without feeling naseous or feeling the need to throw up?

Topic: Getting Surgery Soon
Hi, my name is Crystal. I'm 17 years old (ok, in 15 days I will be) and I'm looking to get Gastric Bypass within the next month. A lot of the paperwork has all been done, it's all a matter of getting everything to click. Hopefully the surgery will get done mid-August, because missing school, choir, and play practice is not how I want to start the year, but as my Dad so lightly says, "You have to keep your priorities straight." Anyways, here is my story: I've been fat since I was 5 or 6. Don't try to cushion it by saying "overweight" or "diet challenged." I'm FAT. Anyways, nothing I have done so far has changed that fact. A lot of the things that make me happy (Such as swimming, acting in most plays, and DATING) are out of the question until I lose some weight. My family and I have come to the conclusion that surgery is the only option now that I have breached the 300 lb mark. My Dad is the one who pushed the idea. I wasn't too keen on it, knowing that this wouldn't be a magic fix to all of my problems. Hell, it'll probably give me more problems than I can handle. either way, I'm not afraid. I have a lot of faith that my surgeon knows what he is doing, and I have faith in myself that I'll do what is right, if not immediately than over time. Any help, comments, suggestions?

Yes! I've been waiting two years+ for the lap-band, and I was approved so quickly. Woo hoo, I can't wait until I'm banded.

Hi cynthia,

I think it is fascinating that Nigel had RnY at age 14.  I am an adolescent weight loss surgeon and know Dr. Lustig well.  I'm sure he is well cared for there.  What sorts of things did you consider in making the decision?

There are so many of you here, I can't remember the name of the girl who work's/ed at starbucks, and she had the starbucks list of drinks in her profile?? All I know is I got a SF, soy carmel machiato(one of your suggestions) and it was the best thing I think I've had in 5 years. Whoever you are, please send me your profile again so I can get a list of those drinks again. Thank you so much! Liz
