Topic: RE: I am a 19yo with a surgery date!
I am having a lap-band procedure. I wanted to make sure I could reverse it if I needed to gain weight for having a child in the future. What kind of work out stuff have you done in the past year? Any specific plan you were on or anything?
Thanks!
Topic: RE: minus
It looks to me like there is a naked male, but he doesn't seem obese to me. It's a pretty blurry picture. Maybe we're not talking about the same one? Could you link it if you've seen it? I just looked on amazon.com and that's where I saw the blurry pic of two males with no shirts on.

Topic: RE: Worried about daughters future
I agree with the last poster, let her go hungry. Offer one healthy option for her meal or snack and if she does not want it, tell her there is nothing else. She will come around when she gets really hungry. She may just be eating because its there anyway. I know my daughter would eat, eat, eat if I let her when she was younger. I know it will be hard for both of you at first, but you have to know that you are doing it because you love her and want her to be a healthy happy child. Also, cut out the juice if you give her that. My child only drank juice and it is full of sugar. When I stopped buying it and only had water or milk in the fridge, she lost a few pounds just from that alone. Juice is filled with so much sugar, it's not worth it. Good luck!
Topic: RE: Need help with food addiction behaviors of teenage son
Dear Mom...
You might take a look at www.radiantrecovery.com. It addresses addictive behaviors from a nutritional standpoint; the doctor who developed the program was the first in the country to receive a degree in addictive nutrition. She found her program was most helpful to sugar-addicts also. There is an area there for parents, and also kids who are interested. I have found it very helpful.

Holly, this is going to be hard, but... let her go hungry! She won't starve herself. Get rid of the mac and cheese, the chicken nuggets ~ or make your own healthy versions! (Try www.cookinlight.com for recipes.) Teach by example. No one at your house (or mine!!!) needs the cookies, ice cream, etc.
Good luck! My once thin 3 yr old is now a hefty 13 yr old, and it's much harder to control her diet!!
Yours,

She is going for RNY. I have had both RNY and the lap band myself so I have lots of experience. My DH had RNY on Jan 11 and is doing just fine. This has made it even harder for Sabrina because they were going to have it together. I think we will hear something in the next week or so. The holidays made it take a bit longer.
