Hey all
I had the lap band on 7/2/04. I've lost 32/33 lbs so far. Not sure if I'll need plastics at this point. Probably a tummy tuck.
Topic: RE: HELP... IM IN PAIN
(hugs) its okay girl. Take your pain meds, if you need them thats what they are for. I just had my surgery on the 3rd, and I tried to NOT to take pain meds because for whatever reason i thought if I toughed it out that would be better. Well it wasn't better at all, and it made everything really bad. So if I start to feel some pain, I just take the meds. I dont have a hard time sitting up, but I'm sure everyone heals in a different way.
Topic: i pray i get approved
i was denied for lap band even though it's covered i got denied two months ago because i was 17 that was the only reason i was denied was because i was under 18 i was so upset i mean i cryed for at least a week anyway now that i turned 18 dec.2nd 2004 my claim is being sent in a couple days my doc just has to finish signing the papers so i'am really excitied because the rep who's doing my case said they're sure i will get approved because they talked to my insurance company and they tell them the only reason i was denied was for being under 18 at the time so now i'am just waiting and getting really excitied to hear what gonna happen so i'am just praying for approval !
Topic: Weight Loss Poll
Hey all you big "losers"!
I was wondering how much y'all have lost, what kind of surgery y'all had, and how long it's been? Also, are you considering plastics?
I'll go first.
I've lost 86lbs in 6.5 months. I started out around 265 and I'm about 178 now. I had an OPEN Roux N Y...my scar is only 3"...my DR. is awesome! And I am DEFINATELY considering plastics...my stomach is like an apron now. Ugh, disgusting! I lost the little boobs I used to have too. Oh well, it's my sacrifice!

Yea, thanks for the response :D
Thats really neat they both had it and are doing good :D
The only thing I don't agree with is when u said "exercise isnt for the weight loss" because it CERTAINLY is!!!
Burning fat = losing weight!
I mean, it is completely too about calories.. but if u take in more calories, u have to burn more.... simple as that.
It's just frusturating...
I'm eating small meals... not a lot, but i eat a lot more times through the day... like some chicken, and then half an apple for a snack.... and usually more chicken for dinner, and LOTS and LOTS of water.
Thanks again for the support, take cares! ttyl.

I know it can be frustrating not losing weight as fast as you want, etc. And yes, it's very normal to not notice the weight you're losing. Some people, even at their goal weight, still see themselves as overweight, etc. My boyfriend had the surgery back in March and has lost a little more than 140 pounds and he said he still sees himself as the 400 pound guy before surgery and doesn't see himself like we do (he's in the 260's right now). So, it's normal. It's just a forced habit because more than likely, you've been chubby most of your life and so it's just what you're use to seeing. As for the rate of weightloss, everyone loses at different rates, as I'm sure you're aware of. Everyone's on a different weightloss curve. For example, the first 2 weeks out of surgery, my boyfriend lost 27 pounds. My dad 2 weeks postop, he only lost 18. My boyfriend was at 405 and my dad was at 283, so obviously my boyfriend's goin to lose faster because he's got more to lose.
So, just try and hang in there and try not to drive yourself too crazy!! Also, exercise isn't for the weightloss. You might lose a little from it, but the main function of exercising is to get your heart and lungs into shape again and to help tone your body and your muscles, etc. For weightloss, that comes from your daily diet. So, maybe examine what you're eating, if you're sticking to those three meals a day, how much are you eating at a sitting, what are you drinking, etc. Good luck and e-mail me with any other questions you may have!

Its been like 7 weeks... and I've lost a lot.. but I feel like it's nothing... Am I alone in this?
Like, everyone can notice, but me.
And I feel like no matter how hard I push myself to exercise more, and get even morrre water in, and moreee exercise... I still am not losing like I was hoping. Grr, it's just annoying.
I know it takes time, but I'm starting to lose my minnnd.
