Whassup Meghan, I am 21 had RNY surgery have lost 100lbs in 6 months. I started off at 374 lbs, and I am 5'9. Weightloss has been really great to me. I have experienced increase attention, easier to shop, more respect from people, and a better understanding about myself. Now with surgery you will also go through some mental things, most times around 5 months out because your hormones are going wild. but that situation can be minimized by talking, seeing a shrink, and going to group meetings. Surgery is great, and you will love your results.

I had RNY but you can expect to loose about 15 pounds in 2-3 weeks. Rny and lapband average the same amount of weightloss over a 3yr period. Jae

Topic: Lapband
Hey everyone I havent been here in a while. I am 17 and I am HOPEFULLY having surgery soon. I have a question for those of you who had a lapband surgery. We (me, doctors, and everyone involved) are aiming to have my surgery done with in the next month or two, and I know with the lapband you loose less weight than opposed to the RNY surgery, but I was just wondering... because I havent seen any average amount of weight lost post surgery for lapband painents, just percentages. how much weight did you loose with in say 2/3 weeks out of surgery?! thanks

I'm really sorry for you Meghan. Don't think you are 'screwed for life' though. You are young and you have TONS of time ahead of you. Just trudge along for now, the opportunity for your surgery will resurface. What about seeing if you can get your old April date back while you try and get this worked out instead of going back on the waiting list? Good luck! Sarah

you are like a month out or so right? Well weight loss is going to start going in spurts... for example, one week you lose a lb. the next its 5 then it's 2 lbs... So get use to the spurts because as you go farther on the road to recovery the weight loss is going to plateau for longer such as not seeing anything for 2 -3 weeks then losing some. It is happening because your body is stablizing it's self so your whole system doesn't go into shock. Yes it is normal. No it probably has nothing to do with the orange juice.. but you can drink it?? Orange juice is a little too sugary for me. Maybe switch to crystal lites orange drink, which I know might not be avaliable everywhere... I know atkins makes something similiar that's an orange drink too.
