Hi everyone!!! Thank you for all the replies regardless if was to just to say hi or to answer my questions, I really appreciate it. My first consultation is today. I am nervous. For some reason my insides aren't so butterflyish, but in my head I am getting worried. I don't know why, I know the Dr. is just going to tell me everything I need to know and what not, but for some reason I am still nervous. Hopefully all goes well *crosses fingers*

Hi, my name's Megan also. Meghan, I've talked to you a little about surgery already also. Congrats on your decision to go through with it, it's soooo worth the journey! I was 223 the morning of surgery, which was Dec. 13th. I had Lap RNY with Dr. Lederer. As of yesterday, my 4 week post-op date, I'm down 33lbs! Here is the support group I went to with my boyfriend almost a year ago when before he had his surgery: http://www.freewebs.com/swls-support/

We had to put my dog down the day before my surgery (last month) and so my mom went out and got me a new little puppy the same day. She's my little buddy. We got a sheltie. Her name's Lady. She likes to bite your toes though if you're not wearing socks and they've got SHARP teeth at that age! Ouch! Congratulations on your new addition!!! What a cutie!!

Hey Samantha- I just wanted to say first of all that in the long run you will lose as much as an RNYer (as long as you follow the basic rules). Just not as fast. Anyway, within the first month of surgery I'd lost 25 lbs. I'm 6 months out and down 40 lbs altogether (as of last monday). Some people have lost faster than me, while others slower. I'm pretty happy with myself at this point. They say the average loss is 1-2 lbs per week. I'll tell you that right now I'm at 1.6 lbs lost per week average. My current trend seems to be to not lose for 2 weeks or so, and then drop a few lbs. The last time I got on the scale I'd lost 5 lbs from the week before. I weigh once a week. Shoot me a message if you have any questions. (I'm 22 but the guys lemme hang on the teen board anyway :P) Sarah

I've already talked to you alot on AIM. But for everyone else, I'm Brittany I had RNY on December 3rd. I've lost 29 pounds. I had my surgery lap. and had little pain during the recovery. When I woke up, I didnt feel much at all because I was drugged up, lol. The catheter, I hated it, haha I think that was the worst part of the hospital stay. Once I got home it got a little harder but not to bad. I seemed to have bounced back fairly quick. The only main problem I've come across so far, is I am not eating enough -- since I dont get hungry and the dietician said it will hinder my weightloss since my body will think I'm starving. So I'm trying to eat small meals, more frequently, as they requested me to do. I cant really say much about how I felt in the hospital since I was lap, and your going to be open. I'd imagine though that the recover will be different. xoxo

I am 19 and had Lapband done on Nov. 1st and lost 13 pounds the first week and had lost a total of 22 at my 6 week checkup. I am now 10 weeks out and have lost a total of 34 pounds. I don't know how much I had lost at 2-3 weeks out, but I am soooo pleased with what I have lost so far.
