Topic: Nervous Psych Evaluation
I am horribly nervous about my psychiatric evaluation.
its tomorrow.
I have a huge PHOBIA of being psychiatrically commited or evaluated because of mental issues/depression.
Its nothing to be seriously worried about, i know this in my right mind but then i think about it and freak the heck out.
ack.

having the lapband makes it easier for old habits to stick around. and you can still have fat and sugar without the consiquences of getting sick. people sometimes don't understand that being overweight is a sickness and you don't understand how sick you are until you are restricted from your best friend food. i had rny because the turning back to your old self ratio is to high and i'm not going back to my old self. i have a friend who had lapband loss 100lbs and hasn't been able to shed not one more pound on the band at all now she is back to starving and working out like she has never had weight loss surgery ever and is even looking into have rny now. only thing i don't understand with people is if your going to let the doctor cut you open you might as well go with what has the better outcome i would hate for you to have regrets like my friend and not get to were you wanna be.

i can't say you are eating to much all i know that is more than what i could eat at 6 weeks. my doctor didn't even allow me to eat until about 3weeks after my surgery. only thing i would worry about is that bread because i'm a year and a half out and i just am able to eat a half of a sandwich and i don't eat all the bread. and think it is extremely to early for you to eat anything that isn't meat or a protein product.
Topic: RE: Questions about eating and exercise
i have had the same surgery you have had. everyones body reacts different and another big part in your bodies reaction is how good of a surgeon your doctor is. i am a year and half post op and still don't get hungery. you will never hear your stomack growl from hunger like before. you will never fill hungry like you did before. if you go with out eating for awhile your body will give a feeling that you need to eat for energy. you should be eating only like 2oz of food at the most at a time. if you can eat more than that you may be eating to much. after a 1 and half i probaly don't eat more than 5oz at a time. exercise i waited 6 weeks after my surgery because that's when your actual stomach on the inside is healed.
Topic: RE: Oh my gosh...
i see your'e getting lap band is this because of your age. not to discourage you but your weight loss will be slower and you have a less chance than those who get rny to lose the weight and keep it off. i had rny and my friend got lap band i have kept my weight off and eating habits under control. she can eat just as much as she did before she had the surgery because after awhile that bands assistance stops working. good luck anyway just thought i let you know if no one else has.

I've heard the cottage cheese test doesn't work because you fill up differently from different foods. Like, I can eat a cup of salad and some crutons but only like 4 crackers. My dietician told me that it's normal to eat 1/4c to 1/2c per meal. I'm 5 weeks out this week. I meet with my dietician on Friday so I'll find out then if the 1/2c still stands. Right now though, I fill up really fast still. My dad was eating about the same as you are when he was 6 weeks out so I think what you're eating is fine.
If you still aren't satisfied with what everyone's been suggesting, or you're more confused than before Call your nutritionist and just ask them.
For lunch, have you tried a little lunchbox thing with a freezer pack in it? If you don't have a freezer pack, try taking a small bottle of water and freezing it and putting it in the lunchbox.

The amount that you are talking about the 3 bites of whatever four times a day sounds okay a little more than I was at 6 weeks out but everyones body is different. I would stay away from the breads, tortillas, pastas, and whatever since it tends to fill you up quicker. Go for the protein first then veggies then breads. I also do not know how big your pouch was made to or what volume it can hold... the cottage chesse test will tell you how much you can hold ( you eat premeasured amount of cottage chesse as fast as you can fini****) Foods that you can bring to work is tricky especially since you are only 6 weeks out maybe jerky, protein drinks (which would be warm), peanut butter, nuts.... To check the hunger I did and still will drink 8oz of water or crystal lite as quick as I can, usually that will defer hunger or it really wasn't hunger. Just don't graze that's what stretches pouches.
