the family thing is i live at home and my mom knows and she wants me to have it but shes so worried that i will die or something. i had a simple outpatient surgery that only took an hour and she saw an cleaning person and ran to him and scream at him asking him how i was doing. lol shes so high strung. lol thank so much for the advise.
my prayer are with you for your surgery and i hope everything goes well.

Hello-
I went through the liv-lite program. If you get denied again, see if they can help you. They did all the work for me just too my info. I hear that they are the easiest to get approved for the surgery. Heck they were the only one's I ever heard about the surgery from! Thank God I saw their advertisement on TV!! liv-lite.com
The worrying part is find something to preoccupy your time! Its so hard! I sent in my info in June and got approved in Sept. Which was too late to have it last yr bc of college. So I'm having it in 11 days! I so can't wait.
The family part...just don't tell them until after its done! LOL! Thats what I'm gonna do. I don't need them judging me or thinking its wrong. After you had it maybe they will be glad. Ya know! At least thats what I'm hoping!! LOL!
Hope you have a approval soon! I will say a prayer for you!
Whats your age, weight, and height? (I looked on your profile and it didn't say)

That means a mile once a day for 5 days... which is A LOT to me (still pre op) but since this week is a final push for my pre op weight loss- I accept the challenge!
I will try to report back on this thread and let you know how it goes. WISH ME LUCK! I will need it.

Does your insurance company pay for people under 18?? if so call them and they can give you surgeons names.
Good luck

I dont know about you finding a surgeon that will do it to you since you are so young but anyways, the process plans on how long your PCP and insurance take with all of your paperwork. I know that mine has taken many months because my PCP thought that I was too young to do it and finally I am getting my information together and sending it in early next week. It looks like you have done you research....dont give up and stay persistant! You sound like a lovely young lady and someday you will be able to get the surgery. It is just so hard at such a young age but dont give up, go to local support groups, talk to people in your area and keep telling your family doctor that you know this is what you want......

Hi there everyone!
I am Jennifer. I am wanting to have either the lap-band or gastric bypass. I am 16 years old. I went to Duke about it but they wont do it because of my age. Everything else i was quilified to have it done. I was wondering if anyone knows a surgeon that will do it on someone my age. (around NC) but also i was wondering how long the process takes to have it done. I would love to talk to anyone that can help! I have been looking into this for a few years now, and i really want to have it done now!
Thanks
God Bless
Jennifer

I can totally do this
Er, I am doing this, lol, I walk almost 2 and a half miles a day, so I'll help with the motivation. :D
We can do "What did you do today" posts every day and have everyone log their exersize, if you guys are interested.

I didn't weight the first week, but in the first couple of weeks I think I'd lost 15 lbs.
If you have protien powder add it to everything you can for now. Unjury makes an unflavored one that people add to liquids, and mashed potatoes and things like that.
