please get the surgery! You deserve this. I am pretty sure that youi can work it out with the registatars office to where you can still walk next year and complete the hours that you are short that following summer. You deserve this because you have probably waited for soooo long! and not only the fact that you deserve it, but your insurance could make you re-apply if you do wait.......and I dont know how your insurance works but my insurance is making me go through HELL and back right now. You owe yourself the option of losing weight and being HAPPY.......listen to what weighs more to you in your heart....good luck and let us all know what you decide........

Another thing to keep in mind is how much you exercise! You can't just expect it to go back on it's own!! I'm working out like crazy and I've only been out 7 weeks. My trainer told me that if I keep up this workout then my skin will strech back because I'm only 20, and my skin has more elasticity!! Good luck!

Hey Nikki!! I had open rny and the first week out I lost 17lbs!! My first month I was down 40lbs!! I started off at 308 and now 7 weeks later I'm 265! I'm loosing it fast and it's great! I don't know about lap banding or anyhting, but I know the open rny was great!! Good luck to you!

That's awesome!! I go to the gym 5 days a week for an 1 1/2 hours and I got set up with a personal trianer it's so much fun!! I'm an exercise junky! That's so awesome how you're motivating other people to do this because pre or post op exercise is vital!! So to everyone else out there getting fit good luck!!!

Topic: RE: Just starting out
Hi Mandy!! I just had the surgery March 22, and I'm 20 and I started out at 308. I'm doing great afterwards, down to 265, and it's one of the best things I have ever done. It's hard at first but it gets easier with time!! Are you just researching the surgery now? If so posting messages is an awesome way to get feedback!! If you have any questions you can always message me!! Best of luck! Jackie

You'll be fine, I think. I was back at school full time 700 miles from home 4 weeks after surgery and it wasn't bad at all. Hell, a week after surgery I was up and walking around the city with no problems at all.

Ok, I am nearing the end of my college time. The only problem is that I am behind ALOT of credits adn if I dont get them done this summer I will not be able to graduate next spring with all my friends. Now, I have to opportunity to fix all that with some courses this summer. I would take 4 on-line courses, the only problem is that they will start 10 days after my surgery. I think I will be fine to handle this b/c I dont have to leave the house so I can take my time with it. WHAT DO YOU THINK???? thanks, Ellen
