Hi. Thanks for the info. IF I am fortunate enough to get the surgery I will take in all your tips. Thanks. I was also wondering if you exercise at all or do you go walking? :D

Hi. It absolutely makes no sense to put you through all of that stuff. If you could lose the weight on your own then you wouldn't need the surgery. Have you really been trying since last June? That is a long wait. If they're gonna approve you, they need to approve you. If they see you are overweight, why not put you in and get it done. I really hope you get approved and I hope that all goes well for ya. You are very lucky that you're close to your goals and dreams. You are SO close and I am excited for you. :D

You are SO lucky! I would absolutely kill to be where you are. GOod luck and I hope all is well. How did you pay? Insurance or self-pay? P.S. I was watching Dr. 90210 on E! and there was this really beautiful girl that had lost a LOT of weight from the gastric bypass and she went in to get a tummy tuck/breast aug., and lipo. She looked so FAB that I was absolutely pumped and I can't wait for my turn as well. I just can't find anyone to pay for it. Good luck and keep us posted. :D

Hey everyone, I hardly ever post but I just wanted to share that I have lost 75 lbs since surgery December 17th, including the 8 lbs I lost the week before surgery. I hope this gives anyone who is having doubts about having surgery or going through a rough patch that you will lose weight and it is a great feeling! Also, I just wanted to share a few secrets about my diet in case you are looking for a change in pace with your diet. Let see, I do NOT eat Bread, pastas, melted cheese (unfortunately), condiments such as mustard, ketchup, etc, nor do I eat peanut butter or red meat. I also dont drink carbonated beverages or consume sugar. My favorite things to eat are the PowerCrunch protein bars from www bariatriceating.com, triple chocolate is the best and I absolutely live off of sugar free Kool-aid, Minute Maid Light Raspberry Passion or Mango drinks which do not have any sugar, and only 5-10 calories, plus Crystal Light and water. Also, I have found in the frozen food section the Jose Ole mini tacos and mini quesadillas are great. They can be found in a bright yellow box and these are great meals. Hope this helped anyone looking for a change or some answers. ~*Megan*~ 278/203

Thank you both for the replies. I will look into United. I thought the same thing, not telling them my condition, but when filling out insurance information they may ask. I will take all into consideration for sure. Thanks.

Hey everyone. I've been coming to ObesityHelp for like a year and never knew there was a teens board, so I'm happy to have found it. My name is Stephanie, I'm 19 years old, 5'6'', and about bouncing back and forth between 312 and 318. I'm very close to approval, I think. My hospital, Kaiser in Santa Rosa, CA, has this whole long long long process that we have to go through before surgery. I had to do an overview class which is a whole day long, which I did last June. Things got put off for a while, but i got back into it this year. Another requirement is a 14-week healthy weight and lifestyle class that is required before you can apply for approval. I started that in February, and my 13 week is next week. I've had to do lots of stuff inbetween the beginning and end of class, gets sleep apnea tests, psychiatry appointments, ekgs, blood work, all that, and, the biggest and ****tiest requirement of all is that it's required to lose 10% of your body weight before they will schedule your surgery. I can apply for approval as soon as my 14-week class ends (and my doctor told me that I'm almost guaranteed approval, which made me feel a whole lot better), but they won't schedule my surgery until I've taken off that 10%. That's what the 14 week class is all about, and i have yet to lose any significant amount of weight despite the fact that I've made so many changes and I'm so frsutrated because I have all the other requirements completely done. Sorry, didn't mean to splurge off my whole story, but I don't know anyone even close to my age who is going through this, so I thought it would be nice to come here and maybe make some friends who are. Toodles... I'll be back soon. -Stephanie

What kinds of jobs are you looking into getting? Anything with insurance? I was actually self pay, and my crazy mom paid for it, so that's how I got mine. When you are shopping for insurance, don't tell them that you want the bypass, just make sure that you read the surgery exclusions. Insurance companies don't LIKE to pay for these things, so they might find a way to turn you down if they know that's what you want. I'm not too much help, but that's the advice I have. Either see if you can find an insurance that you can just pay for, or find a job that will get you insurance and see if they'll cover it. Alternately, you could see if you can get a loan... Sarah
