I am actually not sure about it. I don't know how well the surgeries are compared to here. The safety standards, and such. We're open to anything at this point.

If you aren't apposed to Mexico, you might be able to get financing for those doctors even with not so good/non-exsistant credit. I don't know that for sure, but if Mexico isn't something you are against, that might also be worth looking into.

Thanks! I am having him check into his school insurance this week. We would go with financing, but do to having no credit, and always working part-time (and now being laid off) his work history isn't real strong. I think we'd be out of luck, but I am looking into it.

I think that some schools might have insurance plans. If he's a full time student he could check that out. There are financing agencies that can help, but I don't know of any specific insurance companies for you.
Good luck
Topic: RE: EXERCISE????
I started walking. First it was just around the block, then more and more, and it was eventually 2 and a half miles at a very fast pace. My mom bought me a pilates DVD that has an aerobic workout on it, that I like, and have started doing instead of walking, but walking is free and you can do it anywhere.

Topic: I need general help.....
I am dieting/exercising because right now that is all I can do. I need help for my boyfriend though. He is roughly 450-500 lbs at 5'9". Anyways, he has absolutely no health insurance and was laid off work for the summer. He's a college student and only works part time so paying out of pocket is an absolute no. He wants to join the military, and obviously for his own health needs to lose weight, but also so he can join.
Does anyone know of anyways to begin researching how he could get WLS done? Are there any agencies, or health insurances that would cover it? Or help with it? We are located in Oregon. Any help is much appreciated.

ok this is what you guys should do... atleast once a day take a twenty minute walk... just go ten minutes and turn right back around. eventually you will be able to go further and further. you intertwine this with eating about 6 small meals (and by small i mean like 4-6 oz all togather of good healthy food) and also try and drink atleast 72oz of water a day with no caffine or carbonated drinks. if you try this (i dont mean do it for a week and quit, im talking about a good effort, atleast a month) then i promise you that youll see the results that youre looking for. ive been at it for almost four months and ive lost near, give or take a few pounds, 100 pounds. later
Topic: RE: New Member, Hello!
Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I spent the week at my boyfriend's house and boy did I do badly! I so went off my diet, and have gained back 2-4 lbs. I am not letting it get me down though. It's taken me years to put the weight on, and I've given myself two years to take it off. I didn't completely blow the diet as in eating junk food, I just didn't pay attention to my carb intake. It was back to the diet though as soon as I got home. I think I'll walk tomorrow too if it's not raining. I have lost almost 20 lbs and about 10 inches in a month and one week.

I am doing my weight loss the old fashioned way with diet and exercise. I bought the Curves book. I HIGHLY suggest your friend purchase it. It has a wonderful diet (I hate the connotations that word has become) with recipes, and even shopping lists in it. The reason I suggest it though is that it has the Curves workout that can be simulated at home. I can't recommend Curves enough. My mom has lost 40 lbs and is about 10 lbs from her goal now. My step dad has lost 20 lbs doing the diet and just walking.
I have lost almost 20 lbs now just doing the diet. I started walking a mile in the morning and evening. The rain prevented that though. I will be starting up again. Here is what I do:
Morning
1 mile fast paced jog will intermittment hills
Lift 2 lbs weights (arm toning) for five minutes per each arm
Do as many crunches as possible (I started with 15, and add 2 every day)
Evening
1 mile walk
Crunches
Pilates/Stretches/Breathing Exercises
