Topic: RE: 18 Years Old with a new lease on life?
You are not weak. I had gastric bypass surgery when I was 18 (almost 21 now) and it was the best thing I could have done for myself! I have had a lot of encouragement on here from those who waited until later in their life and they all wished they had done it when they were younger. Why live your life with health problems (if you dont have any now, you would) and be stuck in a rut. You body is so much for able to heal and work better with the surgery. So, dont worry, just look forward to your new life. Cherish ever moment! Its not the easy way out, the surgery is rough, but so worth it. If you ever want to chat I am always here, shoot me a message!
Good luck and God Bless!

Hah, I know how that is. That's why I'm glad my Mom is doing this with me this time. Although, it's still weird talking about it with her. :P

No I haven't talked to her about it. Being a teenager, things are kind of tense as far as the teen to parent relationship goes.
Topic: 18 Years Old with a new lease on life?
I'm 18, and have been scheduled for my VSG on January 29th. Sometimes I feel like I'm weak and getting this before really trying to lose weight because I'm so young and apparenlty this is when it's 'easy'. I'm just looking for others my age to give their support I guess... Thanks!

I know exactly how you feel right now. I was on Weigh****chers for awhile and had some progress until I hit a plateau and just didn't want to try anymore. By the end of highschool I'd gained back the weight I'd lost plus another 25lbs. But now I've got to the point where I just want to be comfortable again, and feel good about myself. So my Mother and I scheduled our surgery for January 29th and I couldn't be more excited. :D Everyone reacts differently to the surgery, so maybe you'll be more motivated to succeed than your mother was. Have you talked to her about getting it?
Good luck!

Topic: RE: 15 YO Daughter is size 18/XL -- Where to buy cute clothes?
We buy my daughter's blue jeans and shirts at JC Penny's. They have plus size clothing in the girl's department. I think they go up to size 20.5.
Topic: Hi everyone
My name's Maggie, I'm 17 and I weigh about 220lbs. I've been overweight for my entire life. A few years ago, when I was 11 up until I was 13, I got down to 140lbs. On weigh****chers. At that time I started losing weight at the recommendation of my doctor. After a while, my grandmother passed away and things just started happening in my life that caused me to become depressed and I ended up going off of the dieting and exercising and I gained all the weight back and then some. I'm really not someone who is at all interested in surgery, my mother had her stomach stapled when I was young and while it worked for a while, she soon realized that chocolate will go down and it ended up being more trouble than anything. And she now regrets that because she can't eat the food she wants and yet she hasn't lost the weight. I was just thinking today that I really want to start losing weight again. That time in my life, I felt really good about myself.
So I just wanted to say hello to everyone and to tell my story and maybe get some support.
