Yes!!!! It is very important that you prove that you are enrolled in school because if you don't they will drop you from the insurance, and then this can crucialize you from getting the surgery. Just enroll and then go to the registars office, get the enrollment certification and then if you decide that you cannot keep up with this schedule, withdrawl and you should at least be covered until the end of the semester so plan to have your surgery before then, that way if you donot decide to go back to school in the Spring, you will have atleast had the surgery cost covered.....good luck in your journey and stay focused. p.s. I am also enrolled in courses but I live on campus and I am having my surgery in less than a few weeks so what I would suggest you do if you decide to stay enrolled and you think it may be to stressful, take distant education or internet courses...so that way you can make up your assignments online.

Topic: My first fill!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Everyone, This week marks 6 weeks that I have my Lap Band. Today was my appt for my first fill. The doctor said I am doing great. So far I have lost 24 pounds since surgery and I lost an additional 30 pounds on the pre surgical diet. So in total I have lost 54 pounds in two months. I feel great. The only problem I had was that I was always hungry. Well now that he filled my Vanguard band to 5cc lets se what happens. Well everyone take care! Daniel 410/380/356/220-goal

Hey Andrew, to be covered you would have to be in school. I had surgery right at Christmas break, had a whole month to recover and I was ready to go when Spring semester started...perhaps you should think about that.

I think as long as you are enrolled full time the vocational school would be fine. Why not start classes at the JC. You could always talk to the dean and let them know you will have to go for surgery, they don't have to know what kind, and see what they will allow you to do. It may take a while for your ins to approve your surgery, and for the Dr. to give you a date so why not just jump in to class now. You may even get a semester over with while wating and you will have it to keep your mind off surgery and the long waiting. This is what I am doing. I am a mom and married so I also have my family but I am also currently in college. I would also do what ever I could to keep your ins. happy because they will be the ones in the end to decide if you are approved or not. Good luck, keep your chin up and remember nothing is impossible!!!

Would attending a Vocational School count as being a full time student to the insurance companies?

You look stunning sweetie! I'd also like to see your PS photos. Did you take before and afters? You should really start a website so that we can keep up with you. Did you have the RNY or the band? Is there anything you regret? Any advice? Did insurance cover your WLS? Did they cover the PS? ~*~*~*~CONGRATULATIONS~*~*~*~

Topic: Question for those still living w/ parents
Hi, this is my first time posting on these boards. Been reading posts here since July. I'm 21 and live with my parents and am going to have my first meeting with the doc Sep 15. My folks are supportive, but my dad is really nagging me telling me the insurance needs to see some kind of proof of what classes I'm taking. And I know I'll just end up dropping the classes this fall cuz thats when the surgery will happen. He agrees I wouldnt be able to keep up with classes, and says he just wants me to enroll so I can provide him papers to proove I'm enrolled at a college. In my mind this seems too much. My question for all of you, Is it required for those under there parents insurance as a dependant to be Enrolled in college to qualify being covered for the surgery? I really dont think that whether or not I'm enrolled in a Junior College should decide the fate of my health. My dad on the other hand says he already told one of the employees I was enrolled somewhere and is whining he could be sued for fraud or something if I dont submit a class schedule.

Don't ever starve yourself. It is not good for you and it will not help you lose weight.

By looking at what you wrote on your profile.....you certainly don't seem overweight. Especially if you onl gained 5-10 pounds over the summer. That doesn't mean that you need the surgery. This is a message baord for teens who have had the surgery or are planning on having the surgery and want to share their experiences with everyone else. You can find people who just had the surgery recently and they can tell what and what not to expect...its really neat and you can meet some cool ass people too.....so welcome!!!!! Finda Nessy
