starving yourself will help you lose weight, but its so bad for you. in the long run, your metabolism will get messed up and in the end you will have even a worse obesity problem. talk to a doctor, start and exercise and diet group at your school, join some support groups, and theres even meds out there your doc can prescribe. theres even psych therapy, camp shane, and a school in cali that is a weight loss boarding school!!!what ever you do, dont give up!! meghan

Topic: RE: do we lose faster??!
hey, from what i have researched and talked to people about, it is completely possible but i do not know about faster. it all depends on how well you stick to what you are supposed to do, really get the protein in, stick to the size of meals you are supposed to, drink all the water you are supposed to and be as active as you are supposed to. anyone i have talked to that has lost a lot of weight really quick took all of these things very seriously and those who loose it slower i sense that they didnt do all of these things. there are tons of teens on here who have lost a lot very quickly, just start looking and peoples profiles and reading thier blogs you will learn a lot like i did. good luck and take care tiffany

Topic: Hi!
I'm new to this whole thing and just decided to introduce myself. I'm 18 and just recently considered having WLS. My mother had the surgery and it has encouraged me to get it. I'm having my consultation tomorrow actually so no set date yet. I'm really excited to be part of this community. People seem really supportive.

hey De Anna, dont worry i had many things like this happen to me. my best advice for you would be to look at making these appts with other doctors if the ones you are looking at are full. i needed a psyc eval and a dietary evaluation and both of the doctors my surgeon reccomended were full so i just found the two doctors on my own and i self paid to make it go even quicker. each was about $300 but it is worth it to get the surgery sooner than later. i called different psychiatrists around and told them i needed an evaluation for bariatric surgery, i was willing to self pay and that is how i got calls back ((the self pay, everyone likes a check)) and the same with the nutritionist. dont give up, i didnt and now i will have my surgery in 10 days. keep hope. love tiffany
