Topic: RE: How long of a recovery period?
hey ma...i was back in school in like 10 days...it all depends on your attitude about the whole situation. For me it was painful but in about a week i was feeling good enough to return to school. The worst part about going back to school is sitting down for a long time without being able to walk around. Just make sure u wear loose pants so it wont tighten ur belly...hope i've helped...good luck*
Topic: Anyone with MI Medicaid???
I have MI medicaid, and I am trying to get approved...can anyone with this insurance tell me what the qualifications are? If you are approved, how long did it take?
Topic: RE: do we lose faster??!
I would say if you are the typical young person you probably lose faster, because you go through several metabolism slowdowns in your 30's 40's and beyond. I lost 50 pounds dieting and exercising at age 34 and unlike with previous weight loss experiences, got completely exhausted. Someone told me it was probably the coinciding of a metabolism slowdown with decreased calorie intake.
Of course, MO people have special metabolisms and each person is different. I would say, just listen to the advice of your doctor and nutritionalist and forget about "how much" and "how fast". Get wrapped up in your new life holding on to the confidence that in two years, you are going to be much lighter.
Topic: How long of a recovery period?
I've posted this on the main message board, and got a few responses, but figured I could try posting it on here too...
Im a college student(20yrs old) and I will be meeting with my surgeon this upcoming week. I assume the topic of when I want the surgery to take place will come up.
So my question is how long did it take you to recover?
I do not want to miss classes, and could possibly have the surgery during my spring break, but i just want to make sure I feel well enough to go to classes. If I might not recover fast enough, I will have to wait until the summer.
Any suggestions?

Hey
I had BC/BS of illinois through my step-mom when I was 17 and we tried for a good 7 months to get them to approve me but they hated me.. lol ... and I don't mean to bum you out but that was my experience with them... they gave me every excuse under the sun and as soon as they asked for something absurd we gave it to them and got another requirement to meet that, magically, wasn't there when we started
... We thought seriously about hiring a lawyer but then my step-mom got fired lol so I lost that battle... I'm not sure where your from but if you are eligible for heath insurance through the state, thats another way to go.. if not then get a job that offers insurance
however I don't know much about your situation sooo don't let me get you down.. goodluck.. its worth the wait .. so i've heard

I am no help with the insurance, but I had an open RNY. It is good for an open so they can clearly see what they are doing in there. Less chance for mistakes. Also remember that even if you get it lap, there is still a chance that they could have to go in. Just something to keep in mind. Good luck hon. Keep pushing them, you will get what you want.
Hugs,
Chrissy
