Topic: RE: Teens with lap band?
I am having the lap band surgery done as well. I am SO excited, but a little worried as to how this is all going to pan out. I haven't heard a lot of lap band success stories, but I am eager to be one of them. If anyone else is considering the lap band or has already HAD it, I'd LOVE to hear from you! You can also email me @ [email protected]! Thnx guys!

Topic: Lapbanding teen seeking support!
Hi, everyone! I am a 19 year old college girl who is having the lapband surgery on June 12th. I am absolutely ECSTATIC about the surgery, and excited to get it all just done with. It's going to be a long process, however, since I have like, 190-200 lbs to lose. I was wondering if anyone here as already had the lapband surgery, and how well you guys are doing. Also, I'd LOVE to hear your stories.. success or not, I just wanna hear some info about REAL people voicing their opinions and stories about a surgery you've had. Thanks so much, and hope you guys have a great day! Lizs

Topic: RE: year check up
I was reading your post, and that is so awesome about your weight loss surgery, and all that has come out of it. I was wondering if you got the lapband surgery, and how much weight you lost within the first 3 or 4 months. I have a surgery date for next month in early June, and I am so excited! I have been over weight all my life, and this is going to be such a great thing. Please post me back, I'd love to hear more about your success story, and anything that I should expect w/ the surgery, I'm a little scared!

Topic: RE: lap band vs VSG
VSG is Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. It's when part of your stomach is actually removed. If you were to choose to go that route, I would recommend looking into the Duodenal Switch, it includes the stomach reduction, but adds to that malabsorption by re-routing 80% of your intestines. I had the DS and can eat whatever I want (smaller portions since my tum isn't so big) and still lose weight.

Topic: *I'm BACK!!*
I'm back after trying again to lose weight with dieting and exercise. And no..I had no success. I started thinking of weight loss surgery again a couple months ago and this time I realy want to go through with it. I'm back where I left off last time. Calling my doctor and setting up an appointment. I started writing a letter to help explain some things I've went through in my life and why I want the surgery.(Tip that I got from a fellow OH'er) So far I have about 2 and a fourth of a page filled in. I'll try to fini**** within 4 pages, but there's so much to explain!! But I feel if I write to much or to little they wont take me "seriously." Well there's not much to say as of now. I'll be calling to make an appointment tomorrow. I'll let you all know how that go's for me. Thanks to all *****plyed on my older posts, I realy appreciate it, I'll lend as much help as I can to others here. Even though I'm in need myself! Thanks yall! --Maggie

Topic: I need a few American surgeons numbers, please!!!
Okay, so I have a follow up apt with my doctor on April 28, 2006. I introduced the surgery to here, and that I was interested, but I am unsure of whether or not she will okay me, because I am 16, and she wants me to wait until I am 17. Can any of you please tell me of some surgeons [perferably in the North Eastern states, I live in Ontario] that are willing to operate on people who are 16 year olds. I currently have contacted one Canadian doctor, and he would do the surgery, but the waiting list is 3 years... Yes, Canada sucks. Any names, numbers, fax numbers, addresses, websites, etc of surgeons for teens in America would be totally appreciated. Thanks everyone!!!
