TEEN WLS

Is there anyone out there that knows if United Healthcare will cover RNY surgery for me? I'm 16 and will be 17 May 1st. I live in Jacksonville Florida. I have seen Dr. Overcash and he is going to do my surgery. I'm trying to get a heads up on the status of TEEN WLS w/ United Healthcare. THANKS!!!! Sean

Hi, im not forsure about your healthcare b/c i do not have it, but when i was trying to get approved for my surgery i was denied twice. Just dotn give up and if you denied try writing an appeal letter explain all the health problems for have from being over weight, talking to your doctors might also help you come up with this list, just make sure your not doign it jsut to get skinny but to make your health better and this ussaly will help you out and get your insurance to cover some of the cost of surgery.~Michelle

We have united healthcare! And like a year ago we called to see if they would cover gastric bypass surgery one me if I was to have it (i was 16 at the time) and they said they cover it. I dont know if its different where you are though. So your best bet would be to call your insurance company and ask about it. I didnt read how old this post was, but for anyone else in the same situation. (I havent had surgery yet, i plan to.). --maggie
