I will be getting either the lap band or the VSG. The VSG is where they make your stomach smaller, but no re-routing of the intestines. I've decided on those two. BUT will NOT do an RNY. In the long run I don't find the RNY giving you a healthier life in the long run, but that's my own opinion. I just dont see taking pills for the rest of your life a good thing. Good luck with your search. BTW: My insurance covers both procedures. Good Luck!! By the way a study shows the lap and rny equal in weight loss in 2-3 years.
Hey Lauren!
I just could not decide between the RNY or the Lapband. After doing endless hours of research I decided on RNY (this was before knowing my insurance will only cover RNY). I saw it this way, I will be getting the RNY which after seeing my mom's results (she had RNY 5yrs ago and has not gained a pound you just have to follow the guidelines) I cant wait to get a date. But i was worried about the weight gain after a few years. but if that does happen there is always VBG (i believe im talking about the right one) were they go in and I believe lapband your RNY pouch? Its something like that. good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

Hi,
Just do your research. You can out eat any of the surgerys, you just have to make sure you are following your doctors orders. This surgery is not for everyone, and if it is right for you, one may be better than the other. I had the RNY because of insulin resistance. The RNY reversed it due to a hormone change caused by the RNY. I haven't had sugar issues since surgery. What every you choose, make sure you are ready for a life time change. And know that it isn't an easy road. Everyone that had weight issues before and issues with food still has them so make sure you don't work on only your body but your mind too.
Hugs,
Chrissy
