Is My Progress Bad?

I've never posted here before, didn't even realize there was a teen forum.. so now that I found it hopefully I'll pay closer attention. I turn 19 next month (September 16th) and I had open roux-en-y April 25th (05') and so I'm almost 4 months out and I'm only about 80 lbs down from the surgery itself. I'm wondering if I'm doing worse than most people do around my age. I feel like it's moving so slow... like maybe I'm doing something wrong. I work out all the time and I don't eat anything that's really unhealthy. I don't know. Maybe I'm just not getting the support I need that's helping me notice my progress. Am I doing bad? Can anyone offer me any advice? Thank you... ~Katt~

I AM STILL PRE-OP. HOWEVER I COULDNT IMAGINE 80 LBS BEING ANYTHING EXCEPT AWESOME. FROM READING ON THE MESS BOARDS LOOSING SLOWLY IS A GOOD WAY TO LOOSE. I DIDNT READ HOW MUCH YOU WEIGHED BEFORE YET I WOULDNT EXACLTY CALL 20 LBS A MNTH SLOW. I THINK YOUR DOING WONDERFUL. 20 LBS AWAY FRM 100 LOST? WOW!!!!!! PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK. JUST BECAUSE WERE YOUNGER I DNT THINK WE LOOSE NECC QUICKER. YA KNOW? GOOD LUCK AND A BIG CONGRATS ON YOUR LOSS THUS FAR.

I have always read that when you are 4 months out, you should have lost close to 80lbs so you are doing spectacular! If you are so nervous about your progress, talk to other members in your support groups who had the surgery the same time as you and also don't be scared to ask your surgeon questions because he should know all of the answers....besides this I think that you are doing great and that you will continue to shine and lose more weight....good luck Finda Nessy

Don't compair yourself to anyone. we're all different physically and whatnot. Id say 80lbs in 4 months is awesome! as long as you know your doing your best to stick to your diet and exersice and your doctor is happy with your results be happy and keep doing what your doing. _mike openRNY 2/25/05 628/500/200ish

You doing AWESOME! I'm exactly 6 months out today and only lost 82 lbs. But again, it's not about age, it's about how much you have to lose total that usually makes the difference. My BMI was 42, so I'm considered a light-weight, (giggles) so they say. You can check my progress if you like, I update almost every week. I have no complaints. I may be slower loser, but I am fitting into size SMALL juniors shirts AND LARGE (9/10) jeans...whatever! I never even fit into jeans before! (I was a size 20?!) Warning though, I have lots of photos, so don't bother if your on dial up. Lap Last 23 yrs old 2/15/05 rny 237/155/115....that's what both of my sisters weight anyway!

I realize now that I'm doing pretty good, and I know I'll hit my plateaus but I've continued working out 3-4 times a week so I'm continuing slow but sure weight loss Thanks again for everyone's support!! ~Katt~
