Hello All, As you all know I just recently had the lap-band done and I have a question, Right now I am in the puree stage and I find myself eating more than I thought I would be eating! Is it because I streched my pouch? this is worrying me. For example today I ate a whole can of tuna fish with mayo for lunch at 1:30. Then at around 5:00pm I ate a salad bowl full of puree eggs, Later that evening at around 9:00pm I was really hungry. I was so hungry that I was in pain! So I had the same thing again (the salad bowl full of eggs). I wonder if this is normal! If anyone knows if it is please tell me. I really hope I didnt strech my pouch! Daniel

Hi Daniel, Well i am not a a bander but i can assure you that you didn't strech anything... simply because you are at the "puree food stage".... therefore everything you eat is of smooth consistency & easy for you to take in & digest... JUST WAIT TILL YOU'RE ON THE SOLID DIET...you will then get fuller much quicker as the food is more dense & takes longer for you to digest...hence the "fullness feeling".... Okay the only advice i can give you is to NOT drink 1 hour after u eat & 30 mins before u eat.. (or as per your surgeon).... Dont eat too slowly... It should only take you 15-20 minutes to finish your meal.. (if you are taking longer than this the food is emptying out faster than it should)..... I know you're a bander... i just hope the rules are the same as with me as with you! I am 1 month post op "Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy". lol....it's funny because the first wee****pt thinking "oh **** i think i streched my pouch...blah blah blah......" but as time goes on you'll look back and laugh!... by the way.. dont banders need to get fills and stuff like that? could that b the problem...? ONE More thing Daniel.... now this is just my personal opinion but although "eggs" are a good source of protein you should really watch out for how many you have in a week... remember there high in chorestoral (sp?)... and fat too... Anyways... i wish u all the best! ; )

Please don't worry...I can tell you that you did not stretch your pouch! First off, you are on purees...they are not a "solid" food so they are not as filling. You also have no restriction because you haven't had a fill yet. Any weightloss before you are restricted is considered a "bonus." It might take awhile, but thats ok. I had my band in December and I finally feel a little restriction as of 2 weeks ago. I will tell you that I would like to have a little more. For a few days I was so restricted it was WONDERFUL. I wasn't hungry and hardly ate. I dropped 6 pounds!! I can't wait to be to my goal! Hopefully by this time next year!! I was worried about stretching my pouch as well, but I had a videoesophogram about 2 months ago, and they said everything is fine. You will do wonderful with the band. Any questions, feel free to ask!! Nicole

Hey Daniel..... very good question. I would say, no, you did not stretch your pouch. Here is why.... 1- You are on pureed foods. All these foods really do not stay in your pouch because they are more of a "liquid" consistency. They just slide right through your pouch. 2- Secondy, you dont have any saline in your band, therefore its "loose" around your stomach. Once you get a fill and eat solids, you will be having a better sensation of fullness. Remember, the more weight you lose, the looser the band gets, meaning you will need more fills.
