Dear Laura: How happy I am for you. I am 43 years old and I am having my surgery the first week in August. I am so excited. The reason why I am on Teen's forum is because of my son Joey. He is 13, is 5'3 and weighs 207 lbs. I know what it was to grow up as a chubby child and I don't want that for him. I try to tell him to eat more veggies and fruits but he just doesn't want to. I will try to get him to see a doctor around where we live that does this kind of surgery. I want him to have the lap band. That is not as bad as the one's adults have or I'm having...If you can, please email him and talk to him about your surgery and what you had to go through to have it done. If you can tell him about your weight, your history, your insurance and the operation itself that you are going to have. He's really a beautiful boy and a very caring one and he will feel good if he has a friend that knows what he is going through...
