Well, I had the band, but my surgeon requires bands and rny's to follow the same dietary guidelines. After 3 weeks of liquids and 5 weeks of soft foods, i started with more chicken and cheeses. Not sure if you are talking about the mushie food stage or the regular foods. With mushies I had eggs, ham, very finely chopped chicken with mayo...things like this. Cheese and crackers went down great. GOOD LUCK! *megan*

Howdy!! Well I had gastric bypass June 1st..and my very first solid meal was scrambled eggs with cheese. (you want cheese in it for extra protein) After that I ate Ritz peanut butter crackers, cottage cheese, string cheese, very low sugar yogurts, sugar free popsicles, and some soups. But in the soups you have to watch for sugars, and try not to get anything very thick or chunky. I hope all this helps you!! If you have any more questions feel free to ask because if I don't know that answer my mom will, because she had the surgery a year and a half ago. Good luck!!! *~!~*MITZI*~!~*

Popcorn..yes, i can eat that, a handful is all i care for bu****ch out for the ones with the kernels. Never had pizza, although ppl at my work order it everyday, so its tempting. Ive beard of ppl just eating the toppings....which would be fine since i dont eat any breads anymore but you my surgeon doesnt like his patients eating melted cheese so that would be a no-no. You rny's are lucky, ive heard yall can have peanut butter.... Its suppossedly too sticky and will clog the band....i use to love peanut butter...darn....plus its high in sodium. *meg*

hey, aly. I can eat just about anything...except sugar or too much grease...so pizza is definitely out of the question. Had a thin crust pizza from APPLEBEE'S once...ugghhh! It made me sick for about an hour, but I don't crave the stuff. Grease really does gross me out now. I used to love KFC...last night the boyfriend took me there and I literally, had to close my eyes because I was starting to dry heave just LOOKING at the grease around the chicken. Ewww!!! Believe me, I was very worried about how I would give that stuff I loved up, but I don't feel deprived, I don't miss any of it. i can eat small portions of just about anything...if I really wanted to. I just choose not to. things I've tried: popcorn, fried chicken, pizza, goldfish, chex mix, sushi, fried rice....I prefer fruit and vegetables now.... Hey, Aly! I'm about 7 months post op from lap RNY and at this point in time, I can eat anything I ate before surgery now. I obviously dump from foods high in sugar but other than that I can pretty much eat just about anything. Once my liquid week was up I was able to eat eggs, oatmeal, grits, lots and lots of cheese and crackers (that was my staple for the longest time) and things like that. It's all trial and error and it's going to be different for everyone as to what you're able to tolerate. Also, what may work one week may not work the next, even day by day! At 7 months out I can not eat yogurt...I haven't been able to since the third week after surgery. I dump SOOOOOO bad from it. But then there's my mom who is 6 months out of surgery and can eat it even at this point without a problem. So, if there's something you want to try, go ahead and try it! If you have any other questions about it, don't hesitate to call your nutritionist and ask them either, that's one reason they're there for! Good luck with it and let us know how it works out!! Megan
