Hello to both of you. I am so happy that both of you all surgery was successful. I am getting RNY-Gastric bypass in early August before I return to school and I am in the process of just completing my psych evaluation and also meeting with my surgeon. My insurance is actually different from you all. My insurance requires that you have approval before even going into the office for the consult. So my question to you both is if you can explain the process that I will go through in pre-op testing? What all is done to you? And also, are a lo of needles involved? The reason that I ask you this is because I have a BIG fear of needles and I know that it may sound silly because I am getting a major surgery but I really am nervous. Thanks for all the advice and I hope that your life change continues to be a success....... Finda Nessy

alotta stuff depends n your surgeon, me i had to get alotta pre op testing done, blood work, ekg, upper gi, cardio and pulminary. Thank god tho i was able to get all the blood work done at once, it felt like they drained all my blood out at the time tho, lol. but it really wasnt bad, and deffinitly all worth it. As for the needles thing, it depends on what your surgeons protocal is for surgery, like my surgeon uses an epidural and thats put in while your awake and sitting on the OR table, but dont stress, again its all worth it. :D _mike openRNY 2/25 623/500/200ish
