gatorade and powerade?????????
Not sure if you are post op or pre o*****n op. But For post ops gaterade and powerade are nono's by my surgeon. He says it has to many calories and other things. Try propel crystal light sugar free koolade stuff like that. All of those are considered for your daily "liquids".
As regard as water I would say no. It has electrolytes and all but not the best choice. I would consider it empty calories.
If you or your friend has a surgeon you should consult them.
Just my opinion

Well, those things are good for you because of electrolytes n' stuff, but they also have sugar and sodium. I personally don't like either of them, but that's just me. I really don't think they count as water (unless you are doing heavy exersizing at the time). I drink crystal light, and sugar free drinks... for me, I count anything that has less than 5 or 10 cals per serving, you know?
Also, if you are having the RNY, the sugar in those things might bother you. For the lapband, that doesn't matter tho.

I agree with you guys. My nutritionist always has said no to gatorade or powerade, however, if you dilute have a glass with water, then it takes out alot of the sugar content, making it basically flavored water. I drink sugar free koolaid aid all the time, crystal light, minute maid light raspberry passion (5 calories, no sugar) and water daily.
i heard that powerade is fulll of nothing but sugar. I always thought that gatorade and powerade were so much better than carbonated drinks but obviously they are not. I think the best way to go ESPECIALLY if you are post-op is water. I hear that you are supposed to drink 64 ounces of water every day. I hope that this information is helpful.
