Hi everyone Some of you might know this, but my doctor told me i needed to loose 57 pounds before he would do the surgery on me. This was in september, at first the weight melted off, but now i have only lost 42 pounds. That seems like a lot, but I still have 15 more to go before he will even schedule my surgery Now, I am so frustrated because I am loosing so slowly, I dont know what is wrong with me, but I just have never wanted to eat more in my life. I am sure this has to do with being an emotional eater. If any of you could give me support, or tips on how to cope with this, it would be helpful. I have to go through my fathers insurance, so this doctor is my only option, and i do like him, but I need help getting this weight off! Please, i would love ANY AND ALL responses. Right now, any support or suggestions are needed! I feel so angry at myself for not sticking with the diet all the time, and I just need encouragment. Thanks for reading this.

Hi tina, The reason for loosing so much is my doc wants me to be under 300 before operation, and I guess my liver is large, so he thinks it will help with that as well, since i am going to have open rny- and then it would be safer. I go through a kiaser program, where everyone- regarless of their weight- has to loose 10% of their intial wieght, it is a department policy- but the extra expectation for me was just my doctor... he is very by the book as well, so i dont think calling is an option... but I think i am going to meet with him to discuss options (like a different weight loss plan- right now i am on a calorie restrictive diet) Thank you for the ideas and support tho... it means a lot to me right now

i hear ya on having to lose weight before surgery. The first surgeon i had wanted me to lose 150 lbs before surgery, i actually lost 100lbs it cost me around $2000, i did one of them pre packaged shakes and meal replacement things, but i went back after i literally couldnt do the diet anymore to see if he would operate on me, and he said no, so i looked for a new doc and found one that would do me. So in a nutshell, if you cant lose the last bit of weight, and your doc will not operate on ya, i would start looking for another doc before you start gaining what you lost back :X

Wow, if you dont mind me asking, how long did it take you to loose that 100lbs? I really am stuck with my doctor because of insurance, and I have already been with him for so long, I dont want to have to start over... I have finished an entire program for preops with this Dr. (I have kiaser by the way, for anybody out there who might be curious).

it took me either just under or just over a year to lose it. it was hell, having to eat and drink basically the same thing day in and day out...but at the time i thought the outcome was gunna be great...but alas...it was not :/ and the whole thing with your pre op testing, you can ask for your medical records from your doc, which contain all your test results and you could take them to another dr if you find one. Just a lil FYI, i didnt know that before i was talking to one of the nurses at my docs.

MM..........Congrats on your weight loss. that is so awesome. don't let anyone even your doctor discourage you! keep up the good work. as far as those 8 pounds you have to lose tell your doctor that he should know that 10 lbs is considered water weight! i think you have done great if i could lose that b 4 weight loss surgery then why am i having the wls to begin with. all i can say is you go girl. you are an angel in my book already. they have people whom have had wls who have not lost that so keep up the good work girl. if your doing well now just wait until you have wls. God knows what we all need in life. Seek him and all will go well thats what i did. Nikki lynn dicapo
