Hey everyone! I'm not finding a place where I fit in around here. I'm 25 and everyone else on the CA board seem to be older. I don't have mu*****ommon with the 40 year olds...no offense. I'm not exactly a teen but I'm not middle aged either. Where do I fit in? I would love to find some people in my area that are my age and who are going through this whole WLS thing. Any ideas? HELP??? Thanks a bunch! Jody (JO)

Hi, Jody! I don't think there's anything wrong with you visiting this board, the only problem I've found though is that this board is pretty slow. I'm 21 and I had lap RNY on Dec. 13th, 2004. I'm down 52 pounds so far and things get better every day. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to send me a message. A lot of us in my family have had this surgery...myself, my boyfriend, and both of my parents. As far as finding people in your area...I know most hospitals that offer the surgery, in my area anyhow, have lists of local support groups for WLS and maybe you could check into that to find something. The support groups are great and provide lots of information and you get to meet lots of people who have had the surgery, are going to have it, or are thinking about it. It's another great resource!! Are you thinking about the surgery? What procedure? ~Megan

Hi! I'm 20, almost 21 and I live about 4 hours away I think... So are you just starting the process? It's the best decision I've ever made. Do it now before you're 40 and you miss out on half your life. my mom had it and she went from a size 22 to a size 4 in a year. It's been a little over 8 months for me and I can already wear some size 6 jeans! I'm so happy. You have to be ready for it it though it's a major decision but I can't tell you what it has done for my life. I didn't know that I could feel so great about my self! If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them. Good luck to you! Stacy

Jody- I totally know how you feel. I'm 22, and started posting here a little while back. This board is slow, but it's still a good place to get to know people. I had the lap band surgery done 7 months ago. Anywho, feel free to email or AIM me. [email protected] MysticTaeza Sarah

I'm all for asking for a twenty-something board. Who do we need to direct our groveling to? I'm going to an orientation meeting on 2/16. For any of you who are familiar with the docs in this area...I'm going to Dr. Vierra. I have to participate in this group thingy and meet the doc while I'm there. He gives those whom he feels are qualified a "pass" to make an appointment for a one on one consult. I will beg grovel steal and borrow if I have to. I just want to get this over with so I can get on with my life!!!! Anywhoo I'll TTYL Jody(JO)

Hey, Jo! I'm also with you in asking about a '20 something' board. I'll see if I can figure out who to direct the request too and go from there. Good luck with your orientation meeting!! I had to do something similar with my surgeon before the one on one consult. I know what you mean too by getting everything over with and getting on with your life. The worst part, in my opinion, was waiting in agony for the insurance company to review my request for surgery and make a decision if they'd approve it or not. I called them every day asking if they had made a decision yet or not. lol, it's good to be on 'the other side' and I can't wait for you to get there also! You'll have to let us know how it goes!!
