Questions about eating and exercise

Okay, I am 4 weeks out of surgery, I had the lap RNY, and I'm down 33 pounds so far (as of Monday, my weigh in day). I still have no appetite yet and only feel like eating once a day, usually lunch, otherwise I'll just have a protein shake for my other meals or some cheese and crackers, or scrambled eggs, or toast with a little peanut butter, etc. Is it normal to still have no appetite at 4 weeks out? I still can't eat much either, probably between a 1/4th to a 1/3 cup. Is that because my surgeon only makes our stomachs an ounce that I'm eating so little? Also, how far out was it until you all started exercising again? I'm in MN and we're in the dead of winter so I can't get my bike or rollerblades out, and I'm a poor college student and can't afford a membership to the gym, does anyone do Pilates? That was my routine up until surgery. Thanks in advance for any answers!

no its normal to not feel hungry about 1 monthy out my surgery told me.um u sould start feeling hungry by month 2 and if u arent then talk to ur surgeon.and thats a little small for atummy. normally the tummy is made at 2ozs.not any less then that. so ur tummy sounds a lil too small. well g2g. oh yeah, if i were u id go out and by a precor elipctical at 2nd wind store.you burn the most calories out of all the machines at a gym per minute. i lost 400cals per 30minutes and i was at 330lbs then....i did that 300-400 calorie loss workout 3 times a week for 2 weeks and ate whatever the hell i want and lost 10lbs in 2 weeks!!!it was so awesome. well bye for now!!!good luck, meghan andresen

1-3 oz for a stomach is the norm. 1oz isn't too small. Also, we have a gazelle or whatever they're called, that my dad got right after he had his surgery 2 months ago. We were told this would work perfect. I'm wondering what type of exercises I should do right now to tone like my upper thighs and my triceps, but things that would be safe at only 4 weeks out.

you won't be hungry or really have a real hunger till like 2 month. You're eating as much as you should for a month out. at a month out I couldn't eat toast or crackers. I pretty much was just eating scrambled eggs, peanut butter, cottage chesse, yogurt, string chesse, protein drinks. I just was walking a month out and getting on the stair machine thats it. Also I was only doing about 50 or 60% of my max since my body was still recoverying from surgery. Does your college have a gym that you can use?

oh I also forgot to say that my surgeon does the pouch a little smaller than most probably around the same size as yours. Don't worry it isn't too small.

i have had the same surgery you have had. everyones body reacts different and another big part in your bodies reaction is how good of a surgeon your doctor is. i am a year and half post op and still don't get hungery. you will never hear your stomack growl from hunger like before. you will never fill hungry like you did before. if you go with out eating for awhile your body will give a feeling that you need to eat for energy. you should be eating only like 2oz of food at the most at a time. if you can eat more than that you may be eating to much. after a 1 and half i probaly don't eat more than 5oz at a time. exercise i waited 6 weeks after my surgery because that's when your actual stomach on the inside is healed.
