Hey there,
I had Lap Band surgery done on 7/2/04. I had surgery on Friday and was back at work on Tuesday. My stomach was pretty sore for the first couple of days, but after that I was just sore at my port incision, and that quit at about a week, week and a half out. I dropped 25 lbs in the first month, and then plateaued for about 3 months, which I now feel is because I didn't get a fill when I needed one. Now I lose about 2 lbs a week.
I was on liquids the first 2 weeks, then mushies for 2 weeks, then real food. There's things I can't eat. Mostly things akin to bread.
I'm 5' 6", and I started at 280. I'm now at about 247. My goal is somewhere near 145, but I don't have anything magical about that number, so I'm not gonna beat myself up over it.
I think I've been added to your support groups already, but if anyone wants to chat, my AIM is MysticTaeza

I just recently had my surgery on December 6th, so its only been a week from today. Um. I had RNY. And to be honest, I thought I would be in excruciating pain (lol im a drama queen sometimes i guess) and I never really was. The most pain is from the left side, and its where the JP drain is. Its exactly a week later and I'm feeling pretty good, I get tired easily though. I am in hardly any pain, only from the JP drain and its not the same pain as I had initially. At first it was pain from the inside now its turned into an annoying pain from having a tube coming out of me! haha.
I get that out on Wed. My liquid phase is one week, then I have pureed for two weeks, and then I have soft for two weeks. And then after that its all foods as tolerated. So far I havn't had any problems (I hope I'm not jynxing myself) and I've been up and about pretty much the entire time. I've been walking alot and still on the Lovenox for 5 or 6 more days. I take prevacid for 4 months. Thats really all I can tell you right now, since I'm only a week out. lol. I started out at 5'2 and 248 pounds. And I've already lost 14 pounds in the first week!!
I think I already joined your yahoo group. my AIM s/n is crosswalklover. I'm on alot if you (or anyone) wants to chat sometime.
Oh and I'm from Illinois. But what part of Minnesota are you from? Sometimes I'm around the Iowa/MN border are you anywhere near there?
Hi, Meghan! I just e-mailed you, but I'll post here too just incase other people are interested. I just had my Lap RNY this week on Monday, Dec. 13th. I went home the next morning. I am still having pain but I saw my surgeon today for my one week check up and brought the pain issue up and he said it's perfectly normal. My pain isn't unbearable by any means and every day it gets better. I'm still on my pain medication, 2 every 4-6 hours. I'm finally able to sleep on my stomach again and I've been able to sleep through the night without waking up from pain for the past two nights now. I went to the bathroom #2 yesterday for the first time since the day before surgery (sorry if that is too much info) but I felt a lot better afterwards!!! Anyhow, my stats are: 223 day of surgery and I'm 5ft. 3 3/4in. and I'm hoping to get down to 140/135. My surgeon said that those are very resonable goals. I hope to be down atleast 40 pounds by my birthday which is Feb. 28th. This first week I can eat cheeses, including cottage cheese, peanut butter, eggs, yogurts, and fruits, veggies, and starches. week 2 I can start eating chicken and fish along with everything else and 4 weeks out I can eat anything I ate before surgery.
E-mail me back if you've got any questions or anyone else does!!
Take care!!
Megan
P.S. There's a support group that meets at Southdale mall in Edina in a conference room there a couple times a month. A lot of Buchwald's patients and some other surgeons patients go there. If you're interested let me know and I can find more info for you about it.
