Grr It's Frusturating!!!
So surgery was on oct. 14th... thanks so much u guys for all the emails and everything... it helped a lot!
Its been like 7 weeks... and I've lost a lot.. but I feel like it's nothing... Am I alone in this?
Like, everyone can notice, but me.
And I feel like no matter how hard I push myself to exercise more, and get even morrre water in, and moreee exercise... I still am not losing like I was hoping. Grr, it's just annoying.
I know it takes time, but I'm starting to lose my minnnd.
I know it can be frustrating not losing weight as fast as you want, etc. And yes, it's very normal to not notice the weight you're losing. Some people, even at their goal weight, still see themselves as overweight, etc. My boyfriend had the surgery back in March and has lost a little more than 140 pounds and he said he still sees himself as the 400 pound guy before surgery and doesn't see himself like we do (he's in the 260's right now). So, it's normal. It's just a forced habit because more than likely, you've been chubby most of your life and so it's just what you're use to seeing. As for the rate of weightloss, everyone loses at different rates, as I'm sure you're aware of. Everyone's on a different weightloss curve. For example, the first 2 weeks out of surgery, my boyfriend lost 27 pounds. My dad 2 weeks postop, he only lost 18. My boyfriend was at 405 and my dad was at 283, so obviously my boyfriend's goin to lose faster because he's got more to lose.
So, just try and hang in there and try not to drive yourself too crazy!! Also, exercise isn't for the weightloss. You might lose a little from it, but the main function of exercising is to get your heart and lungs into shape again and to help tone your body and your muscles, etc. For weightloss, that comes from your daily diet. So, maybe examine what you're eating, if you're sticking to those three meals a day, how much are you eating at a sitting, what are you drinking, etc. Good luck and e-mail me with any other questions you may have!

Yea, thanks for the response :D
Thats really neat they both had it and are doing good :D
The only thing I don't agree with is when u said "exercise isnt for the weight loss" because it CERTAINLY is!!!
Burning fat = losing weight!
I mean, it is completely too about calories.. but if u take in more calories, u have to burn more.... simple as that.
It's just frusturating...
I'm eating small meals... not a lot, but i eat a lot more times through the day... like some chicken, and then half an apple for a snack.... and usually more chicken for dinner, and LOTS and LOTS of water.
Thanks again for the support, take cares! ttyl.
going back in my memory to 7 weeks post op, I was losing weight but the physcial recuperation from the surgery was still making me feel sluggish which in my thought made me feel like I wasn't losing anything. I didn't notice any weight loss till about the third month when i saw myself in a picture i took and compared it to my preop picture. The weight is going to go about 20lbs a month at most I think anymore than that is pushing it on your internal organs. Plus your weight loss will start to go in spurts one month only 10 next month 25 etc... One thing to notice is that with the weight loss any exercise you do you are going to build muscle which in return contributes to kick starting the metabolism. At this point at 7 weeks I think your body has recuperated enough to really work out. Just make sure you are getting enough protein after working out.
Hey girlie!
Hi I'm Stacy I'm 20. I was feeling the same way but here I am a little over 6 months post op, which is no time at all and I'm down a little over 80 pounds, I'm 170 and a size nine!!!! It's the greatest ever! Don't worry it'll come off soon enough. Even where I'm at I get frustrated becasue now I only lose about 8-10 pounds a month, but hey at least I'm still loosing!
Good Luck to you!
