It's been a while since I've been around here, but I wanted to stop by and say hello. I'm 3 weeks away from surgery. I think I'd be going insane right now if I wasn't so busy with school and life, but I have enough distractions. Ask me again in two weeks how I am, though, that'll be a completely different story. Reality just hasn't struck me yet...I'm too busy enjoying life. It's so strange to be this close after all the drama that it involved with me. I didn't want to come back to school...but I ended up having to instead of having surgery back in August. But I don't regret coming back to school at all. This has been the best few months of my life, without a doubt. I've finally realized that people love me no matter what my size is...even sexually and romantically speaking. I think I've finally become comfortable with myself and that shows to other people, and I think I could live the rest of my life without surgery. Now, I don't know about anyone else...but Lauren loves to party. So those of you out there who are post-op...have you drank after surgery? How was it? I'm a total lush, so I've been more worried about drinking after surgery more than anything else (at this point at least...that'll change in the next few weeks...). I'm almost mourning the fact that alcohol won't have the same affect on me. But I was just wondering what others' experiences with alcohol have been post-op? Anyone?

i heard its really bad to drink after your surgery, cuz it goes directly into the intestines...and if you do drink it hits you right away :/ just what i heard

I don't have a good answer for you because I didn't have the same surgery as you, but I just wanted to say that it is really cool to read what you said about what's going on.

I went to a class the other day and they told us NO beer or anything carbonated and to only drink once in a while... and yeah, it goes right into your system so you'll get drunk a lot faster. But yeah, it's not recommended. I personally don't mind, I stopped drinking because of my medication and I don't miss it.

After the sugery, alcohol goes straight to your liver. It's bad for you, but so is driving fast and I'm willing to bet most of us do that every day. If you do drink, dont drink often, drink very little and watch out for the sugar content.

after surgery alcohol will effect you very differently. Before surgery I could pound away with no problem. After surgery any alcohol (just one drink) makes me drunk, yes drunk like if i had 5 mixed drinks. A mixed drink will make me sick because of the sugar in it. A beer will make me sick because of the foam. A shot well makes me want to curl up in a ball on a floor and die but will make me super drunk. I have found that alcohol is just not worth the sick feeling.
