Hi all! Congrats to all the new surgery dates and peeps just getting out of surgery! I have a question about plastic surgery though. See, on the PS board its all older people and my family, friends, and I have this theory that because I am still young, the extra skin problem should be significantly less, due to skin elasticity. Well, I was wondering, has anyone in this age group had a need for PS and if so what kind? I am sure I have some extra skin, but I hope I will not need PS, as my insurance does not cover it thanks to everyone for any help! Jennifer K. pre-op 11-15-04

Hi Guys, Sorry to bust everyone's bubble but most likely if you are 100 lbs or more over weight your going to need plastics.. I have met a girl who is 22 years old. She lost 150 lbs and needs plastics... Everyone is different but the skin usually doesn't bounce back... Hope this helps ~Sexy

Hey Jenn Even though our skin has a better tendency to go back on it's own, some do need work. In fact, today Tony an I meet with his Plastic Surgeon. He has to have a tummy tuck. even tho i've only lost 46 lbs so far, i can already tell i'll need it...my arms an legs are the worst yuck LOL....it all depends on the person shannon

Everyones right. No matter HOW old you are, if you lose close to/over 100 pounds, there WILL be some sagging skin. But on some, thats barely any, and they wont need plastic surgery. 1/2 of it has to do with where the most fat is/was stored. ~Amy

hot spots are arms, inner thigh, stomach, and breast. most of the time insurance will not cover it unless it causes yeast/bacteria infections in the fold of the excess skin.

hey jennifer! im 19 and had the surgery on may 20,2003. since then ive lost 207 lbs. i started out at 473 anyway, june 9th of this year i had to have a panniculectomy (removal of excess skin and soft tissue from abdominal area). the skin issue was really big, but my insurance still didnt cover it. we had to pay for it ourselves. i can tell im going to need more work in the future, too. so id better start saving lol. if you have any questions, feel free to email me. i have yahoo messenger too, if you want to talk. jenny [email protected]
