Im getting DS! There is NO way i would get RNY. I'd rather have no surgery at all! But luckily my insurance JUST approved me yesterday and it only took 1 day!!!!!!!! ~Amy

DS has alot alot of problems intake of nutrients. Also I have met a couple of DSers? that my surgeon did their 2nd surgery on that had many many health issues with their prior surgery. What it comes down to is the size of the stomach after RNY (some surgeons make the pouch huge and some super super small) and if the instines are distal or proximal. Plus I know before I had my surgery back in March that I did a lot of research on DS and there are only a couple surgeons in my book that are even worth having this surgery with plus the health concerns bothered me a little too much. Also some insurances just won't allow it since it is not a "okayed" baratic procedure, some have super high BMI you have to be at to be authorized like 55+. I would contact your insurance or your parents and ask for their benefits package information regarding baratric sugery.
