Info Session!!!
Hello,
Hi everyone!! I hope all is well!!! Well anyway today I went to the Information Session at New York University Medical Center. I sat down and listened to everything that they had to say. I decided to do the lap band with Dr Fielding. He specializes in teens. I am so happy that I finally started my process!!!! Well anyway tommorrow I have to call the psychologist to make an appt. I just wanted to fill you all in on the start of my process. Finally!!!!!!!!!!
Daniel
look all I have to say is yes, it is a personal choice, but it seems that this is the only surgery that you have looked into...I looked into both and found that the lap band has had to many complications for me so I chose the rny....
I'm not siding with either side, but just look at ALL the different surgeries before you decide...
laparoscopic banding (lap band)

roux-en-y (rny)
duodenal switch (ds)
just look over everything and then decide...you and your self, don't let any one influence you, its YOUR choice
I just emailed you. But incase you dont get it. Read this!!! http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/surgtype-forums/DS/postdetail/8711.html?vc=0

Hi Amy,
I just have a question. I was browsing through the Teen forum and see you have a very narrow minded view on the Lap Band. I am not trying to come down hard on you but I have the band and in no way will I say mine is better than yours or yours is better than mine. Daniel is a good friend of mine and I think he is making the right choice. Do you know why the DS has the highest success rate because your digestive system gets all messed up. They basically connect your mouth to your butt. You absorb almost nothing.. They have many articles that link malabsorption to nerve damage and anemia. I hope you are making the best choice and I wish you the best but I think you need to think about your approach. This is a personal desicion therefore you have NO RIGHT TO TELL ANYONE they are making a mistake. You haven't even had surgery yet...wait to see your results then come back and comment.
