Youngest WLS?

I'm interested in how old you have to be to have the surgery? A close family member is 15 with a BMI of 41 with several comorbidities, and was just wondering if WLS might be a viable option. We've tried everything else. What's the youngest person anyone has heard of having had the surgery? All info would be appreciated.

Christina, I have heard of children as young as 13 having weight loss surgery!! Right now, I just turned 16 in August and I am starting my pre op process. Your friend really should consider surgery. Daniel
