QUESTION FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone! I was wondering what everyone has bought (food wise)
before surgery for the IMIDIATE post-op "diet"?!?!!? What type of
calcium, what type of soups, and...you know!! All that kinda of
stuff! Also, did you buy anything for comfort? Like one of those
pilows that fit around your neck or somthing!?!?!? Thankyou!!!! Your
answers will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

AMY,
I AM PRE OP, LIKE YOU, ALTHOUGH I HAVE MET WITH MY SURGEON. AS YOU HAVE PROBABLY SEEN FROM READING ON HERE, ALL THE DOCTORS HAVE DIFFERENT PROGRAMS TO FOLLOW. SOME WANT YOU ON CLEAR LIQUIDS FOR THE FIRST WEEK, AND THEN ON TO SOFT OR PUREED FOODS. THAT IS WHAT MY DOCTOR WANTS. BUT YOUR SURGEON WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT ITEMS TO BE PREPARED FOR, AT LEAST HE SHOULD, ALSO VITAMINS.
JUST A QUESTION, SINCE I READ YOUR PROFILE, HAVE YOU HAD ANY BETTER LUCK WITH WW. I ONLY ASK BECAUSE FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, OUR FOOD IS VERY LIMITED, AT FIRST AND FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES. DID YOU EVER DECIDE IF IT WAS RNY OR DS AND DID YOU GET A CHANCE TO CHECK OUT THE PROS AND CONS OF EACH....JUST ASKING. GOOD LUCK TO YOU WITH WHATEVER YOU DECIDE.
HUGS, CAROL
As far as food and comfort stuff goes there are two things I definitely must get. Protien shakes: I am going to try different kinds. The first I have gotten is carnation instant breakfast, which I don't think is truly a "protien shake" but a lot of my "co-patients" use it. I am going to try it today I think...Also I am going to treat my self to "new clothes" one last time and buy the prettiest, best fitting long nightgown I can for the hospital so I don't have to wear the ucky hospital stuff. Thats all I can think of for now but I am sure I will know more later.
