Is it possible?

Hi... I am turning 18 in less than 3 weeks and I am really interested in having WLS. I am 5'6 and 225 lbs. Is there any possible way that I am going to be approved for this? ~Wondering~ Kristine

You will probably only be approved by your insurance if you have SERIOUS co-morbidities, because the general rule is your BMI needs to be 40, and yours is 36.3. Not saying a doctor won't do the surgery, but you might have to fight insurance or self-pay unless, like I said, you have a co-morbidity like diabetes, joint problems, etc.

i think you have a good chance. i'm 19 and 285 lbs and i go in for surgery next week! if i can get approved i'm sure with the right people you can as well. just have faith and don't give up! *~*jenny*~*
