Is it just me? Or does almost everyone think that "young" people(teens)shouldnt have this surgery?!?? I for one, am VERY happy that they let younger people have this!!! I do NOT want ANY more of my life to pass me by!!!!!

Alot of people do not want even people under the age of 30 to have the surgery because their bodies have not fully matured and some people lose baby fat. I say BLAH to that. I have been heavy since I was 9/10 years old been on a number of diets plus my genetics show that I'm predestined for heart disease. I think that people younger than 18 and below a certain weight like 250 should try other methods then resort to surgery. If I could have had this surgery back when I was 15 or 16 I honestly don't know if I could have done it and followed post op diet. I feel that I have reached an age where I could take care of myself and follow the post op restrictions.

I agree, I'm stacy, writing under my moms name, she had the surgery 7 months ago and she's down 100 lbs. She looks great. I've always been heavier and had to fight my weight, (I'm 20 yo)After seeing her, I went into depression and in the 7 months she's lost I've gained about 40 lbs.I've tried everything including ephedrine and diet pills from mexico and yet it's the story of my life too. We have a great Doctor and he's all for the surgery I'm seeing a WLS Dr. on mar 22 I'm way excited. My mom was 45 when she had her surgery, and she had been heavy for most of her life, she never got to feel what it was like to run on the beach or play in public pools without being worried about other people. It killed me to think my life was going to be like that. I want to enjoy my 20's and not end up in my 40's and have wasted 20 more years being fat. I went to get blood work done today, and I told the blood tech that it's ok if I'm heavy I'm trying to qualify for WLS, she was like "NO DON"T DO THAT!!" I just smiled, umm.... ok.... (yeah right!!!) [email protected] if anyone wants to email.

Im having it in May and Im 19...and I have already missed so much of life...and I cant imagine waiting any longer! I dont have any health problems yet...so why wait till Ive got one foot in the grave?? To those who say we are too young....they are just jealous that they didnt get it when they were this young...and they know good and well they would have LOVED to have had this surgery at our age!
