I think you are a wise teenager!
There are alot of reasons to look carefully at all the options that are out there for weight loss.
The VSG is very promising, but not alot of research results yet.
The surgeons who have done the most of these procedures in adults have had good results. The weight loss can be as good as the gastric bypass.
Please keep us informed of your progress, ok?
Warmest regards,
Dr. Inge

I just turned 19 today but ive been overweight my whole life. I feel disgusted with my pictures and i feel trapped in someone elses body. Sometimes i just want to dissapear. So I have decided to have the Gastric Sleeve. My surgery is scheduled August 13th. I really do hope you get approved for your surgery It will honestly change your life. You can message me if you'd like :)
My daughter is 15 and we are looking into WLS. She has her first appointment on 11/10/09. She has been overweight for a long time and we have been trying to find help since she was about 10. Our family dr never ran tests and we knew something was wrong because we watch everything we eat. She has hyperinsulinemia. She takes 10 mg of byetta 2 x a day and 1000 mg of Fortamex. Her weight has stablized but not lost. She always played basketball and soccer even though she was heavy because she loves sports. Last year her coach said he couldn't play her anymore which was devastating to her.
I hope I am doing the right thing for her by looking into surgery.
She is 260 lbs and 5'3".
