Hello
I am new to this site, but I am so glad my neighbor told me about it. I am 16 years old and morbidly obese. I am planning on having gastric bypass if I can get approved by it since I'm a minor. I am basically just looking for other teens my age to converse with and relate to. I have always been so alone with my body, and never had anyone to relate to. Please, if your obese and under 18, contact me on here. Deeply appreciated.

Can I ask you why you chose Gastric Bypass?

If you want you can send me a message and I can give you my number or Email and we can converse with through text or whatever.

In your whole life nobody has ever abused you more than you have abused yourself, and the limit of your self abuse is exactly the limit of abuse that you will tolerate from someone else.

Sarah.
I'm glad you introduced yourself here. You should also introduce yourself on the DS board and the RNY gastric bypass board as well

Hey girlies! I had Gastric Bypass WLS a month after I turned 18. In all honesty, my insurance just wouldn't cover it until I was no longer a minor, but if you have enough proof that it's needed as a minor, I'm sure you'll be approved. It was the best decision of my life!!! I am loving the results, no complications, dumping, or anything like that. I guess I got REALLLLY lucky because I can basically eat anything I want without getting sick. [that was not the case right after surgery because i vomitted like crazy with everything I ate!!] It's a gift and a curse because the fact that I can eat everything I want makes it harder to stick to my alotted daily calories. My pouch only holds about a quarter to 1/2 a cup right now, so I don't eat much anyway. I NEVER FEEL HUNGRY which is amazing!!!! I've lost about 115 pounds since July, so I can only wish everyone has such sucess. Let me know if you have any questions at all!!!

hey i am hoping to have surgery also. I got denied when i was 17 for gastric bypass but now i am 18 and hoping to have the DS by the time im 19. I am having a horrible time dieting and excercising. But this site has given me so much hope and i love coming to it everyday! Just hang in there and start moving if you dont already excercise. just 30 min a day a few times a week will help so much!

Hi Sarah,

I'm now 20, but was obese all of my teen years.. and it hasn't gotten any better. I still like to consider myself a teen. 20 is just to young to call myself a full out adult yet ;) hehe

I am currently 5'2 270lbs.
Was around 200-230 all of highschool (started gr nine at 170 ish)
I have just started to consider WLS now.. wish i had considered it/thought about it earlier and I could be having it. Its definately something i want down right now, but i know i have to pace myself and truely think about my life. I know something has to change. I just have to pick the right change. I have never done any supervised WL programs EI: doctor, weigh****chers etc.. never any money for a full program and was always to shy to talk to my doctor about it, would just tell him i was doing excersise or something silly. I have done lsim fast, apple cidar vinegar and many low cal diets.. none every worked.. loose maybe 20 pounds if i actually stuck to it and gained tons back..

I'm not saying its the best choice, but i'm happy I have the chance to consider it!
